Title: Rear Turn Signal Placement
Post by: dc112675 on February 03, 2008, 02:26:08 PM
Any suggestions on where to mount my LED Turn signals.  I am replacing the brake light with a LED fatboy and recessing it under the rear fender.  I prefer it to be flush rather than sticking out like the OEM light.  This will require some modification but I found a site that shows how to do it.

At any rate, where do I put the signals?  I am thinking about making brackets that would allow to put them in the same area as the original ones.  The other two options (that I can think of) would be to use the existing holes in the chrome fender pieces (don't know what they are called) or I could drill holes in the actual fender and bolt them there. Using the existing holes is easier and does not require me to make any holes in the fender, but they are a little far forward and might be hard to see.

The other option is to drill holes near the end of the fender and run a stem to the metal frame that supports the fender.  This would be a little more difficult, but more importantly it would mean I have to drill a hole in the fender.  I prefer the LEDs over the OEM and have no desire to go back to the stock look, but I am hesitant to do something that would make the switch back impossible.  Any thoughts?   Thanks, dc

What the PO did on my bike was to mount them on the rear exhaust mounts ... Works OK don't know how visible they are !!!

Fab up a simple mounting strap to attach them with the rear fender bolt that goes through the chrome fender rail and fender and locate them just below the chrome fender rail or such.

Check the following site out.  There are 2 Magna folders to look through.  Quite a collection he has.
