When I park my bike in the garage I smell gas fumes after a little while. I have checked for leaks. Don't believe the floats are sticking. Bike fires right up and runs strong enough. Although does idle a little rough.
Any ideas?
The Valkyrie guys who have experienced this problem have found it to be a defective gas cap. However, I don't know if the Maggie suffers from the same affliction.

What year are we talking about? Could be an O-ring or cross tube leaking slightly!!!
Hmm. I will check the cap.
It is a 1984 v45. I rebuilt the carbs recently and replaced all the o-rings. Not ruling that out though. But, it has done this since I bought it. At that time it actually left a puddle of gas on the floor in front of the front tire. I tracked this down to the fuel pump not being bolted up and 2 hose clamps being loose. It had a very obvious leak from those 2 hoses.
It does no show an obvious leak anymore. However, I am thinging of replacing the fuel lines and filter.
Thanks!
Float level might not be correct.
They are not adjustable. First time I have seen floats without adjustment ability.
I have a 83 V65 and have the same problem. From some of my reading it appears that the main cause (as long as there is no obvious leak) is that a float is sticking or it is fuel vaporizing from the heat of the engine. Unfortunately if the floats are not sticking the other issue does not appear to have a solution.
Good luck.

Thanks for you input. I am leaning towards the floats. I changed the fuel lines the other day because they were slightly rotted. Smell did not go away though. Doesn't seem to correlate with a hot engine. The thing that bugs me with the floats is that I have a fuel pump. So, I am thinking, the floats sticking would not cause very much extra fuel to go into the bowls. Only enough to release the pressure on the fuel line, then it should stop. Unlike one without a pump, in which fuel would constantly go into the bowls as long as the petcock was open. If I am wrong on this please, someone, let me know.
As always thanks!
