Title: luggage rack
Post by: dan twomey on February 28, 2008, 05:12:36 PM
Anyone have any good suggestions for a rear rack for the magna?  My saddle bags don't carry enough stuff for some of the trips I take and I was looking at adding a roll bag or tail pack from Nelson-Rigg...I'm not a huge fan of the squared tubing on some of the racks I've seen and I don't know if I like the idea of a fender rack on the magna.  You don't see too many magna's up here to begin with, so I don't have much to judge from.

Thanks!

Dan

Dan have you thought about a T-Bag and put in on the back seat strapped to the backrest??  This is what a lot of folks do for extended trips.  T-bags (not sure if they still do) sell a Texan bag that goes on a fender rack, with a Expandable on the rear seat and a Texan on a fender rack you can get quite a bit.

The rear fender racks are only rated for a few pounds, I would not put more than 15 or so lbs on one.

For what I need, I think a T-bag is too much (size and money).  I am steering away from a fender rack and looking more at the racks that mount to the sissy bar.  The bags I have in mind will mount to either the passenger seat or a rack....I had the rack in mind for when my wife rides with me.  Here's an example of what I was looking at:

They don't have one for the Magna right now on ebay but I would like to get one of these for camping runs.
The bad thing is they come from Hong Kong.

Look what I found.

My luggage rack is rated for 6 lbs I think but I throw 32-40 lbs on it w/o issue. Yes, I weight my luggage to see how over my limit I am.

Everytime I return the price gets better! Someone better jump on those or the lurkers will scavenge them all up!

When will you find a deal where someone pats me to take it and delivers it for free! LOL
