I recently had some carb work done to my bike and since I've gotten it back I noticed some new behavior. When I pull out the choke and start the bike, it slowly pulls itself back closed. The bike never did this before, so I assume this is not the correct behavior. Any ideas on why this would happen? My bike is very finicky when she is cold and needs at least a minute of choke before she idles good.
On my 97 there is a rubber covered adj nut on the outside of the choke bracket that the cable comes thru, try hand tightening it a little. Doesn't take a lot of pressure just finger tight.
My 94 Magna use to do the same thing I think that it is fairly common.
Maybe the cable was lubed and retracts somewhat. Mine has always done that.
As Charles mentioned there is a tension adjustment behind the rubber cover, tighten it and your good.
Okay, ya, you can tighten the tension cover..... that's what I meant to say. 8-) But I like mine loose so it goes bump in the night easy. :-P
Heck, I always thought it was supposed to do that. Kinda a "Stupid Proof" solution to me forgetting to push it back in after riding a while. :? Thanks for the info.
Don't over tighten the nut on the choke cable. Mine broke and the replacement cable is sitting on the kitchen bar waiting for the warmth to return.
I personally recommend that you fire up your Magna with Choke (only as needed) and soon as you can, bring throttle up and push choke off.
Sounds like a joke.

Thanks for the responses, this was indeed the issue.
