Title: Help me Ascertain Value for parts, and then buy them for cheap!
Post by: dc112675 on April 11, 2008, 04:49:14 PM
I am looking to rid myself of some various parts (both stock and after market) that I either bought and never used, or took off my 1995 Magna.

I bought the bike 2 years ago with 7,000 miles and I am now at 11,000. I say all of that to give you an idea of the condition of the parts.

At any rate, can you help me assess the value of the following items? I did some extensive research (read: looked on eBay) to find their fair market value, but it is hard because most are not offered there. Obviously I could throw them on eBay, but I prefer to offer them here first.

I have posted the pics on my website and you can go there if you would like.

Stock seats (front and rear)
Both are in literally like new condition. No scratches, tears, rips, etc. They come without the bolts. ($100-150)

Stock Foot Controls
Both have some surface rust and the left peg is scrapped on the bottom. Two bolts and a connecting rod is included. I had to use the other two bolts for the forward controls. ($35?)

Four Turn Signals. Wires are original but one nut is missing for the front. Also, one of the lens cover has a scrape on it. Otherwise they are in good working order. ($20?)

Brake and Clutch levers. No bends or scratches. ($5?)

Skull Grips. Came with bike. Please someone take these. I'll throw them with any other item for free (so we don't have to pay separate shipping on them). (FREE)

Tail light and assembly. Only bolts provided are the ones that attach the light to the plastic molded thingy. Light works good and no scratches. ($15?)

Headlight and bracket. Light rust on bottom of bucket (from bug guts?) and the turn signal rod was removed from the headlight bracket. That was b/c I changed the headlight and mount but kept the stock signals. Both brackets still work fine. ($20?)

Handlebars, Risers, and grips. Will separate risers if needed. Handlebar is in good condition. Here is the funny part . . . when I changed out bars, I couldn't get the left Iso Grip off, so I bought a new pair. So, there is a 2 year old grip on one side, and a brand new one (with the throttle sleeve) for the right side. The left one has a little wear but does not affect functionality. ($75-$100?)

New Dave Dodge Shim Kit. Paid $45? ($30?)

Motorcycle cover. Paid $35. The bag it comes in is dusty, but the cover is brand new. Bought it 2 years ago, put in on the bike to see if it fit and then put it back in bag. I live in Texas so it never sat long enough to warrant a cover (he he he, our winters last about 2 weeks long). ($15?)

So I think that is it. If you have a second, please critique my "suggested retail price." If you are interested in any of them, please PM me and make an offer. Don't be shy. While I am not desperate to give it away, I will sacrifice to make sure it goes to a good home. I would consider trading for a set of small, angled saddle bags. Otherwise the money goes to get my wife a mother's day gift (anyone work for James Avery Jewelry)? Thanks, Doug
