Title: Is a VFR700 engine same as V45?
Post by: dgc67 on April 23, 2008, 12:57:31 PM
Does anyone know if a 1985 VFR700 (sportbike) is the same basic engine (motormounts, size etc...) as a 1985 V45 magna VF700C?  I am certain there are internal differences and possibly carb as well.  The reason I ask is I saw a VFR for sale as a parts bike and it got me to thinking about an engine swap for more power.  I am finding results showing the magna with 64 hp and the vfr with about 85 hp.

The engine is the same, but the motor mounts are different as Greg states.  I have read of guys swapping them with some modifications to the mounting.  Don't know about the carbs, but I'll check the manual and post a reply if I can remember to do it...

Figures.  After I posted I realized that a big difference is that mine is shaft drive and the vfr is chain.
