I am looking for recommendations for a horn to replace the sickly OEM squeeker and a recommendation
for a light bar with the spots on either side of the headlight. I am looking for something that installs

On the horn I REALLY like an air horn, they get attention almost immediately.
For extra front lights try Kuryakyn Silver Bullet lights, they are quite bright..

Do you have a pic / part # for the air horn?
Does it just mount in the factory location or do you need to make a new bracket for it?
John III has auto horns installed on the front of his 85. For the most part, they look like they're s'posed to be there. They will DEFINITELY get your attention...!
I've read where quite a few folks have put a Stebel Nautilus on their bike (and specifically on a Magna). They are relatively inexpensive ($45 shipped) and very loud. It has its own little compressor that packs a punch. According to those who have them it takes less than an hour to install. I just ordered/installed saddle bags so I have to hold off for a bit, but my next mod will definitely be the horn. I'm almost embarrassed to hit the button now . . . I did say almost. Anyway, bikerhiway.com seems to have the best deal. Also, you can hear it on youtube. Just search for it there. dc

I have the Nautilus Compact Motorcycle Air Horn. I think they sell it on bikerhighway. All I can say is that it is LOUD. I tested it in my garage and definitely needed ear plugs. Fits in stock location, but will need a about a 1/2" to 1" spacer so it doesn't hit the exhaust. Now when I ride I keep my eye open even more for someone not seeing me, just so I can honk at them! I'll try to get pics posted soon.
If you can, a picture would be great to see how to mount it. It sounds like a good
tool to battle cell phones.
Sorry it took me so long to get some pictures posted. I'm still trying to get the hang of multitasking with a 13 week old son around. Life surely isn't the same...but I'm not exactly complaining either :D
Getting the stock horn off the mount was a challenge. I ended up cutting through the nut on the back with a Dremel. The nut is so thin it was all but impossible to get a hold of and wrench on.
With this horn you also have to run a couple new wires and mount a small relay box (Make sure you but one with the wiring kit included, or purchase it separately.) This horn takes more juice to blow and the stock wires and switch won't work with out the new electrical set up..well they will work, but most likely only once! Wiring it up was not hard at all. Very simple and straight forward. I mounted the relay box under the left side cover.
Here are the pictures of how I mounted the horn. The spacer is about 1.5" long. I had it without for a bit, but it would touch the exhaust and melted a small part of the horn. I also drilled a hole about 1" higher in the mount to get it away from the exhaust, but probably wouldn't have needed to if I used the spacer right away.

That is a nice installation, however I think it would be wise to keep an eye on the strap it is mounted to for developing cracks. The horn assembly is fairly heavy, and especially with the spacer, it will vibrate a bit from road surface irregularities, which could eventually cause cracks in the stock mounting strap. Just a word of caution from someone who has experience with over-stressing light-duty stock parts. (See my thread re: luggage rack, back on May 1st.)
Actually the strap consists of 3 thin plates and is surprisingly flexible. Its got a little give to it that absorbs some of the shock from bumps.
Although I have cracked a 1/4" mount for my engine guards. I was riding down the road and heard some rattling. Checked it over at home and saw one of the mounts cracked straight through. Brought it to be welded up and the guy asked what kind of bike I rode. When I told him it was a Honda he said "Oh, I figured it was a Harley". Must have been from the ultrasonic vibrations from occasional the 10K rpms :lol:

Same happened to me, MIG welded and silver paint.
I didn't even bother painting mine. In fact you can see the one that broke in the top picture of the horn. It broek right behind where the spacer of the horn is. Right where it makes a 90* curve in towards the bike. You can't even tell in the close up picture.

Just an FYI. I couldn't find a good place on my '86 for the Nautilus and ended up replacing the two horns up front with a couple of FIAMM Highway blasters. Not quite as loud but you should see the surprised looks when they thin there's an old Buick honking at them :shock:
