Hi i have been wondering if there are any after market pipes that will give the magnas bottom pipes a straight look instead of how it curves upward. I know that vanch and hines classic 2's are straight but where do the connect on the magna? do they connect before it curves upward or after it curves. I love my magna and the way it feels and looks i just dont care to much for the shape of the mufflers, i prefer the look of straight ones.
I believe that even the aftermarket drag pipes all sweep upward. I have been toying with straighting the lower pipes and bring the uppers down to meet them, just haven't got around to buying the tubing required to construct them. One of the reasons I want to lower the pipes is the addition of larger saddle bags. I don't care for the original look much either. Again, I don't think you'll find anything already made, but good luck in your search..
Hmm my friends brother makes custom exhausts for cars, i wonder if he could construct the pipes for me and fit them to the magna.
I was even willing to try to find 2 into 1 pipes one for each side that don't slope up for bigger bags.
Will pipes made for other bikes fit the magna or do they all have different size and fittings. Im guessing the part where slip on pipes connect is after the slope isnt it.
I checked with a regular muffler place about making some for my magna. The problem is they dont have the equipment to make a smooth curve. When they bend their pipes there are some indentions and the curves are not smooth. He suggested that I find an electircian, they have devices that bend the conduit smoothly and see if ther would be someway to use that to bend some pipe. The pipe that the muffler shop has is not chrome either. When you bend chrome it will flake. So you will still have totake the pipe somewhere to have it chromed. We talked about cutting the pipe off just before the section where the back pipes hook into the system and bringing the pipes straight out from there. The front ones would not be a problem, except they dont carry that small of pipe. The back ones would have to be bent fairly sharp to fit. I have a first gen, bike.
Go on a long ride in the summer. Once you are sure the pipes are nice and not, pull over on the side of the road. Then, using your bare hands, grab the exhaust and push them down with all your might.
Now that you will be out of work for 6 months because they had to graft skin from your butt to recover your hands, you can use the money you made from the settlement (the suit you won against Honda b/c they never said not to do that) to buy a 3rd gen magna and a set of bigger bags. dc

I found that image online, its labeled as honda magna they also show a similar one for the vance and hines classic 2's. Looks like a magna except ive never seen one with the spedo on the gas tank. Thats the look i want on my magna with the pipes.

Can I get some coffee with those tail pipes.
At fifteen, I remember my trail 70's tail pipe the first inch was bright red by the time I would make it home from work.
You have rekindled my interest in changing my exhaust. If I can pull it together I'll doument the process just in case it turns out :o, I can always destroy the evidence if it don't :-D. The first pipe will be the smallest tubing that matches the actual exhaust pipe size. It will be drilled and wrapped with fiberglass to take care of the raspy metal sound, the second tubing will tightly cover the fiberglass baffle and steel riveted together for future repair or mods the third tubing will match the outside diameter of the stock chrome covers . the only curves will be the one bend that turns up to the top exhaust these bends will be split covers. The outside tubing will be drilled on the bottom and back side for polished button head bolt that will hold it to the inner tubing by welded spacers that have been drilled and tapped. The local chrome shop will chrome all the pieces as long as they haven't been run,(carbon soot ruins there plating). At one time I could have got the four outer peices chromed for about $70.00, that was a while back I have to recheck the prices. the tubing shouldn't be that expensive probably less than $50.00. Any brackets will be welded and ground smooth before chroming. the tips will have a slight turn down toward the pavement to help create the correct resonance I'm looking for. By riveting and bolting everything I should be able to remove the baffles and tune the sound a little. I plan on matching the factories outlet diamenters to maintain the correct back pressure. That's my story and I'm sticking to it .. I can already see heads shaking no,, so tell me why it won't work IYO :-D

If you able to pull this off, you can use mine as your experiment with first gens. I have got to get up to Texerkana and see your place. Anything I can do here let me know. I will check on some chroming places here to see what their prices are like.
If you are able to create straight pipes for the magna i will cheese like a kid in wonka land, i will also pay you to make me a set :D
