Title: Paint reccomendations in Austin area?
Post by: MagnaDaddy on July 12, 2008, 10:45:46 PM
Does anybody have any experience with paint shops here in the Austin area?  I'm looking for a basic paint job on my project CB900.  Nothing fancy just well done!

Ken,

There is a fellow in Marble Falls, goes by "Dr. Bob's".  He painted my Magna before I bought it.  I met him and like him.  He sorta works at his own sometimes glacial pace, but it not expensive.

If you can't find him, I may be able to get more info.  His card, unfortunately, is at home, and I am in Oregon this week.

I once dropped my Miata off at a friend's body shop and almost 8 months later it was "done",  He was really cheapo too but if you look at it now ,5yrs later, you can see why  :?

Do you have his contact info?

Ken, it is embarrassing to admit this, but I can't find his phone number.  He never really painted anything for me.  Claimed he could not buy the paint.  It was expensive when I bought it myself.  In reality, I don't think he wanted to mess with painting two side panels.  His wife worked as a waitress at the River City Grill.  If you would like to ride out there one, day, it might be a nice excursion for the two of us, and we might even succeed in hunting him down.  At a minimum we could enjoy a nice ride and a lunch.

Theres a place in East Texas you can get it painted for around 400.  I have seen some of his work it looks pretty good. www.splashofkolor.com/Index.htm .  It might be worth the drive.
