Title: Drag Bar Dimensions
Post by: Magna99 on July 25, 2008, 10:39:35 PM
I am wanting to put some T-bars on my magna but not sure what size I should go with. Anyone that has added T-bars did you go 6" rise and 6" back or 8" rise and 7" back. I want to go with 1 1/4" bars so any recommendations on brands would be appreciated. I stand right at 6ft if that would make a difference.

Do you run your mustang in the 1/4 or 1/8 mile?

What times are you doing?

Do you know your HP and how many HP and pounds of torque the charger add?

Can't help you on your bars. Might try a mock up.

I put the T-bars on my Project 96 Magna, if memory serves me I went with the 8" rise and 7 1/2" pullback.  Will need to get longer cables.

I picked them up from http://www.jpcycles.com/productdetail.aspx?PID=ZZ50497 hope this helps.

I generally run the stang in the 1/4 but haven't with the new engine. My old combo was a 306 with 18lbs boost and was running 10.3 in the 1/4. My old combo made 630 to the wheels. The new motor made a hair over 750 to the wheels so I am hoping for mid 9's. I don't have any idea what the charger added since my new engine was built specifically for a blower at only 8:1 compression.

I don't want to change my cables over for new bars so I guess the 6 up and 6 back would be the way to go??

Depending on your stature they would work if you do not wish to change out cables.  My current setup seems to fit most in the 5' 10" up range.  I am running a stock seat (simply cause I do not wish to spend the $$ on a Corbin at the moment LoL), but would think a Corbin might help with the 6" bars if your a taller person.

Your "TOY" sounds like a fun machine!  My father drag raced for most of my early life (I grew up on tracks), running mostly big block Fords.  I am toying with the idea of putting my Project 96 (or a V65 of some sort) on the track for fun.

Here is a PIC of my Dad's last car, and one of a 77 Cobra II I had built for the strip then sold before completion.

Greg, where would you run your bike at? I know some run at Red Line and Kennedale, Red Line is 1/8 mile, I think Kennedale is also.

How soon might you do this? Would you hook up nitrous if you ran the 96?

Terry, they are actually building a strip in Crandall just a mile or so past the Cotton Gin.  So less than 10 miles from me.

Nah no nitrous needed..  I would work on the suspension to help with launches but at the moment that would be all.

I bought a set of the Drag Specialties 8X8 bars, but they didn't look quite right, and I couldn't get the stock controls to reach (they probably would, but since I didn't like the look I didn't try very hard).  I ended up buying a set of 6X6 bars that I like better, and the stock controls had no issues.  I still have the 8X8 bars that I was going to put on e-bay, but if you're interested in them let me know.

Those pics of that Mustang II are nice!

I would be interested in the 8x8 bars if the stock controls would reach but I am not wanting to change over cables. Do you have a pic of the 6x6 drag specialties bars on the bike??

Here are a couple pics of my stang

I love the look of the T-bars on the magna especially in 1 1/4 diameter. That magna is beautiful! How short are the cables with those bars??

Exhaust, Exhaust? He don't have no stinking exhaust, those are tennis ball shooters that double as after burners.

Yep those mini-howitzers are Supertrapps.  I am really enjoying them so far!
