I've just bought my first bike to save on gas on my 1 hour ride to work. It's a '84 magna V30. Can folks educate me on windshields? I have none but thinking of getting one to block the wind.
My V30 came with a National Cycle bar mounted shield, that transitions to black along the bottom edge. It's narrow, but it keeps the bugs out of my face.
There is one that sells all the time on Ebay that is a nice handlebar mounted small shield that my son has put on his 96 Magna and LOVES it!
I made one. I had a piece of 1/4 plexiglass hanging around in my garage. So I cut it to the only real shape I could make it. Took the hardware off my full windscreen and used them to mount it up. It is UGLY, but works PERFECT, for me. I easily look over it, it lets wind hit me but deflects enough to be comfortable. Puts the air so it hits just the top 1/4 of my helmet. It will blow my screen down, but no buffetting at all. My taller friend, 6', said it was all in his face and head bounced all over the place. That will keep him from asking to borrow now, hehe. Bike handles great, and mileage went up about 2 mpg avg.

I have seen uglier, (not by much :P ), but sometimes functional overrules. It does kind of have a Superman shape to it, maybe you can get the "S" etched into it so people will know who their messing with.
Or the V4 logo :D
Not a bad idea. I thought of painting it since I don't even look through it. wish it did look nicer, but won't take it off cuz it does work perfectly. I don't think I have ever gotten so lucky with something I "home engineered" to have it work so good without any further tweaking. It is exactly as I put it on the first time.
