Title: Cat-eye taillight with minimal modification
Post by: Herman on July 30, 2008, 03:56:32 PM
Got a new taillight on ebay ($35 w/ shipping).  All I had to do is drill two holes in the sub frame, cut off two tabs and shape the tabs for the turn signals in the shape of the signal base (all trimming done with a dremel), connected some wires, and that was it.  Not too bad for a custom tail light.  I think i might even get new (smaller) turn signals to give it more of a clean look.  It was a pretty simple job.

The new taillight is just as bright, if not brighter than stock.

More pics at different angles of the finished product, or pics of the mod in process?

Billski sells one that many people used on the MRF board. Here is a link. He is a great guy to work with, and also makes the fork extentions for the magna and other bikes. ( i have the 1" ones with the 'v4' engraved on the cap)

by the way, here is another link to a photobucket site that has a bunch of magna pics of people's bikes and modifications, which include pics of the tail lights.

I was originally looking at the Billski mod, but $35 was a lot easier to swallow than $71 (includes shipping).

Thanks.  The only part I'm not 100% satisfied with is that you can see some of the sub-frame.  I think I might try to paint it black and see how it holds up.
