What do you guys think? and is everything in the mockup doable withought any serious mods the the frame or anything? i figured it could all be done farely easy and would make for the first magna of its kind. Also does anyone know where they sell these side covers that cover the space between the sidecovers and gas tank (http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w164/briandirtydenim/97Magna.jpg)

Cobra USA's demo Magna had sidecovers that bridged the gap between the seat and the tank. Not sure if they were a production item or not. Who knows? They may have a couple just lying around.

They were an available aftermarket item from Cobra but have since been discontinued.

Have you been to the main Moot website and looked under Magna Nirvana? There are several built that style. Well except for the skull headlight, don't think anyone will copy you on that one  :???:.

I guess you are right besides im going to make the rear end rigid suspension by doing what greg had told me about and using the struts cut to the lenght i want and welded in pleace of the shocks. Then i and going to use a spring seat with a shock to cusion the ride on the back and bum. That i have not seen on a magna yet. Ive also got a couple of other ideas as well that i just haven implemented into the mock up.I would also still like to get straight pipes withought the bend in the bottom pipe but i know that no company makes them and i dont know anyone who builds custom exhaust that could make it work on the magna.

The pipes are still on my list, but I'm economically challenged right at the moment. The material is still expensive even if I do the work myself..

If you are going to do that much radical customizing, why not cut the rear of the frame short, so it ends right behind the rear seat where the shocks mount.  then fab up a rear fender that "moves" with the rear tire.  You could get basically the exact look you paintshopped, but retain the comfort of having a suspension.

DG can you elaborate more on the process you are talking about? what would i be cutting off to shorten the frame and how would the suspension be connected incuding connecting the fender to the wheel. Do you have any pics of a bike this was done to?

I am not familiar with 3rd gen Magna's, but my 84' has a sub-frame of sort that holds the seats up, rear fender and the shocks are mounted to it.  Most motorcycles follow this generally layout.

I was thinking if you cut the "sub-frame" just behind where the shocks are mounted and welded a cross tube to connect them for rigidity it should still function the same.

Then you fab a way to mount a fender to the swingarm.  I was thinking bend a piece of steel tube to be a big "U" shape so it just clears the tire vertically and weld each end to the swingarm.  Maybe another short one at the front of the swingarm or some brackets up there.

Then set the fender over it and bolt the fender to it.  This way when the suspension moved up and down so does the fender.  Similar concept as the front fender.

On mine, the battery is under the drivers seat but some of the electronics are under the passenger seat area.  For mine, I would have to relocate my fuse box and some other relays.  But from the looks of the 3rd gens this may not be so.

I have seen custom built bikes with a fender that functions like this, of course their frame is totally different.
I have never seen it done exactly.  It is just something my friend and I have discussed many times during our "wish" sessions.

Advertise on you have a 750cc and challenge any V-twin in a drag race! Run video on the whole process so we can see you in action. Sorta like GGW but it will be Magna goes Wild.

Sorry, but the Magnas that get the most attention are the ones that are bone stock!! We all like to personalize our rides but and all out radical chop say your either ashamed of the way the bike looks or you want someone to think it something else.. That is just my personal opinion 8)... No offense intended :D.

None taken :D Im not chopping anythng off of it realy just adding to it. The only real modification that will take place is turning the seat into a springer seat and making the rear riggid. The point isnt to make it look like another bike but to make it look like something nobody has.
