With me replacing my shocks with stuts and fabricating mounts for a solo springer and using a small shock as the cusion for the seat i am looking to go the fatest i can with the rear wheel. The custom fender will be mounted to the swingarm so it will travel with the wheen and there is no worry about the wheel hitting the inside of it on bumps. Turn signals will be leds as well and the brake light. Brake light will be leds mounted under the seat so it lights up red under the seat when i hit the brake. This being said what is the abolute largest wheel i can fit onto the stock rear rim. Or the largest rim and wheel combo that will fit with thew swingarm.
Sorry, I don't know the answer to your question. I know on a stock set up, most people go to the 170 (after moving the brake stay over)
Just a thought though.. Remember that if you go too wide, your going to have to space the sprockets out to clear the wider tire and keep the chain in line..
I actualy dont want to go much wider, mainly taller and beefier looking.
Do a search in the Garage section of the forum on "tire size" or something similar and you'll run across several posts relating to the topic. I can't remember what the largest someone has used off hand.
The largest tire will be the 170/80/15 unless you change rims and swingarms then it is whatever they will accept but another limiting factor is the engine,chain sprocket combo. The Magna engine HP lives in the upper end I don,t if it has the torque down low to get a big fat tire going with out some drastic sprocket combo!!!!!
If you switch to the 170 tire, do you need to alter the gear ratios as well? I was thinking of this mod, but wondering if I need a sproclet change too?

Of all the folks I know that have changed to either the fatter or taller tire, none have changed sprockets because of the tire. Those I know that have changed sprockets did so for other reasons, wanted higher top end of quicker off line speeds.
