Title: 85 magna idle adjust
Post by: zereoue20 on September 02, 2008, 03:35:43 PM
My magna has been running great. Recently it started idling a bit high, thinking maybe because it's been hot out. When i try to make small adjustments it doesn't do anything and if i turn a little more either way the idle is increasing.  Screw in or out seems to increase the idle regardless. Is all the way in lean, or rich? Appreciate any help, thx all.

When your adjusting the idle sometimes they act goofy. My 86 would do the same thing sometimes when I was trying to set the idle. Sometimes you have to give it a quick hit on the gas to clear the carb and then it will adjust. But you should notice the difference when you start to screw out more to increase the idle and less idle when screwing in. In equals leaner and out equals richer. Make sure your choke isn't sticking alittle because that will cause it not to want to adjust. Play with the choke and lubricate it on the carbs to make sure the pins are going back to where they need to be. Hope that helps ya

I did everything i could, had to stop before i shoved the damn thing over. choke's not sticking, i don't get it, was running find, i've turned the thing everywhere from lean to rich, and the thing just won't idle. can't even get to idle around 1900 w/ choke, either 2500-3000 or stall altogether. I don't know if i have the patience for a bike, lol

If the bike has set anytime at all the slow speed jets are in need of cleaning.  Carbs will need to be pulled to get the slow speed jets out.
