Does anybody know if there is a way to fit a 200 on the back of the magna? any modifications that can be dont to make it happen?
Lord have mercy  I think it would be easier if you just put the Magna engine in a Harley frame to start with!!
to much work haha im asking because a friend of mine is making a custom rear fender for me out of a blank. It is going to be sick, the fender is 10 inches wide so we will be trimming it to fit into the space that is there and i want a wide enough tire to not look funny inside of it. Making struts to convert to hardtail and adding a springer solo seat. and i will be lowering the back as much as i can to fet the fender almost ontop of the wheel.
Ive decided that tying to go wit a 200 is a little rediculous. So i think the metezler 170/80/15 is it? whichever wheel is the fattest that fits with shimming the brake stay should work just fine. The fender we are working on is going to be sweet. Once we mock up some designs i will post them. Its good to have friends that weld and fabricate and powdercoat for a living.
Probably the best bet on the tire, as I'm sure you would have to redesign the frame to accomodate the 200. Hope the fender turns out like you want 8-).
Just get a Valk and run a car tire!!!

...........and don't say it won't corner. Ask anyone who rides with me!

Wow first time ive seen that, man your valk looks prety mean. Car tire isnt doable on the mag im guessing since you are telling me to get a valk
The first limiting factor is the wheel width. You need a five inch wheel to be in spec for the tire. (some might note the irony of even mentioning "spec" when putting a car tire on a motorcycle <shrug> ) The stock Valk wheel already has that covered. I don't know how much room is up in the fender or between the swing arm members on a Magna since I no longer have one I could go out and measure.
The first picture in my previous post is the 195/65/16 I just put on the "big" Valk. I modded the fender by cutting off the nut cages on the inside and widening the fender by spacing behind the fender rails. I am told that with these mods I can run a 205/65/16 so I am all prepared if I decide to go wider still. The bottom picture is the 195/55/16 sport radial on the "little" Valk. I did no mods at all to fit that one in there and it doesn't rub anywhere. I've had lots of comments and questions on it. I think some people are confused by the tread pattern and don't know quite what they're looking at (MC tire vs car). I wish I could have found a cool tread pattern for the tire I just bought, but selection is somewhat limited in the 195/65 size
Thanks for the compliments. Here are some more pics.

Honda was generous with the chrome and there were also a few aftermarket pieces on it when I bought it. I've added the chrome swing arm, radiator grill, exhaust hangers, pivot covers, oil filter cover (it's actually a harley shock cover, btw) and tail light trim piece. As time and funds permit I'd like to get the wheels chromed and then maybe the fork tubes.

Theres a quick drawing i did to show what the custom rear fender we are making will look like. We are adding the parts that are raised And installing led lights in under the raised areas as brake and turn signals. Ill have to do similar on the gas tank as well probably to make everthing look complete.
Pretty cool... Looks kinda like the helmet on Ironman!! :-D
you know it kinda does i want the wider tire for it because the fender is 10-10 1/2 inches wide. Im not going to mount it onto the arms that hold the stock fender so i need to find a way to mount it differently withought welding it to the frame or swingarm
I think the 170/80 will fill it up enough that it won't look bad, it's a big ol' tire. Only thing is it's pretty tall, so you will lose some of your lowering stance.
Curtis
P.S. After further thought, how wide is the wheel on a 3rd generation Magna? The 55 series car tire on my Valk lowers the stance without altering the suspension, and since it kind of "tips up" in the turns ground clearance is not compromised as much. Someone's got to be the first to try it, and you're just radical enough to be the man!! <grin>
Here's a cool tread pattern:

........and it's available in 195/55/15!
Is there any tires that are as wide but not as tall?
The 180/70 size is popular for folks who want larger than stock but it is not as wide (or tall) as the 170/80. In the Metzeler brand it is very close to stock size Dunlop though for some reason.
My Toyo Proxes 195/55 car tire is starting to show some wear but it still may be a while before I replace it (maybe next spring). If you want to see if it will fit, I'll send it to you for shipping cost. That way you could experiment for short money. There will probably be enough tread on it to run it for a while and still be safe.

That could be cool, juet let me know when you are ready to part wit it.
I just went out in the garage and looked at my swingarm. The part of the swingarm where the axel goes through is wide enough to put an automotive tire on it. The clearance for the chain and sprocket looks like it has pleanty of clearance. The brakestay rod would have to be changed or shimmed out as with putting on the fatter Metzler. The part of the swingarm that might be a problem is the forward portion of it where it pivots, it's shape is rounded like the profile of a motorcycle tire.
You would have to look at that area and see if with a new chain and automobile tire in there, you would have clearance. Before making a decision, take a look at that.

Will do.
Here's another really cool tread pattern!

So the question is would the car tire fit right onto the stock magna rim or would a new rim be needed for mounting.
Well, it is a tubeless rim with the "step" for the bead to lock into so that part is compatible. I got to thinking about the rim width spec and while a "narrow for the tire" rim might cause trouble for an auto all I can see it doing is giving the tire a more rounded profile which would be a good thing for a motorcycle. I'm thinking (in my own very unprofessional capacity) that the only catch is going to be swing arm, brake stay and fender clearances.
Oh SHOOT, just thought of another wrench in the idea of you trying my tire..............the Valk is a 16 and the Magna is a 15. NEVERMIND!! Sorry if I disappointed you. Even I wasn't willing to try a car tire on the Valk at full price not knowing if it would be a success (fitment was a given, but I didn't know if I'd take to it). I picked this one up for $50 because a fellow had it on a Gold Wing and didn't like the feel.
