Post by: roboto65 on November 11, 2008, 08:28:37 AM
Ok I have a VF 500 and the pump works BUT I am not getting 12 volts to the plug that feeds the pump have check the sensor in the reserve tank and the relay well not much to check it is getting power. What is odd when I check the volts on the plug it will read about 5 volts give or take and then quickly drop off to about nothing  :-? this has me baffled any suggestions would be great Thanks !!!!!

I will hazard a wild guess.  Sounds to me as though you have a corroded connection somewhere.  Remember how, when your battery terminals corrode, there is a state where the battery will power lights, radio, etc., but when you try to run the starter, everything goes dark -- the extra current through the bad connection causes the entire battery voltage to drop across the corrosion layer.

Good luck with this one.  Sounds tough.
