Title: Dakota Digital Gauges
Post by: robertdwest on November 22, 2008, 09:57:30 PM
So much to know and so little time to learn.  Is there anyone out there that has replaced the stock gauges with Dakota Digital gauages?  Or is there anyone out there that has had experience with the gauges?  I'd be interested in hearing or reading everyone's feedback on this.  Thanks in advance

Welcome Robert !!!

Those gauges look Nice! I don't know anyone who's done this. There are several ways to accomplish this depending on the diameter of the stock gauges they make have slip-ins or modify a ring to take up extra space to fab'ing a new mount to fit the gauges you want from polished aluminum.

Keep us posted with photos on your progress! If you come up with a nice easy way to mount these others might want to do the same. Another forum member named Gooch is doing several mods to his.

I've also been looking into these.  They have a set (Speedo and Tach) that by their posted measurements should fit right into our stock chromed plastic gauge housings.  The Dakota Digital speedo unit says it works with cable driven speedo systems, but they also seem to have an accessory that will convert everything to an electric speedo signal.  They look really nice, and I like some of the functions like service odometer and such.  The only problem I can see with them is that they seem to be geared toward Harley bikes, so I don't know how easily things will hook up without some modification (wiring, thread sizes, etc.)  If I can find a good deal on a set of these this winter, I am thinking of adding them to my bike.
