I am wanting to get some lights to illuminate my engine at night. What are the best ones and where do I get them? If anyone has them please post pics. I am thinking of either red or purple, but would like suggenstions.
Blue would go good with your bike.
If you live in Dallas, a good place is tanner electronics. There are many online places to order, try a search because there are so many more now since I started using them 3 years ago. Usually come in 3 or 4 to a pod. If you go to tanners you can buy individual leds and build your own pods and they will tell you what resistors are needed for how many individual leds.
Spend time planning locations to get the best results. Chris Larue was a Magna owner that had his picture with the lights on, look at the member list and you may see it there with the blue lights.
From what I have read on here, police don't like the blue or red LEDs and may use that as an excuse to harass you. Next time I see my Bro-n-law I will ask him his opinion, he is a Lt. in local agency. I doubt I see or talk to him till Christmas though, we don't really talk other than holidays. He used to be pretty cool till he became "the man". I think they brainwash them in the academy.
My wife has blue and we have been stopped before for just that reason.. Funny, they never mentioned the unbaffled pipes.. They are not illegal as they do not face forward or back and do not flash, but just want to relay our experience. White is always nice if strategically placed.
Look at this thread.

What I decided to do last night riding home around midnight is to take the tape (diffuser) off the red LED's to have the full output of light. Primarily use the Red when on the highway at night and use the purple when stopped for effect. I like the purple better overall but since I have both colors on.....

Plano Honda in Allen, Cycle Gear has a few but Plano Honda has a larger selection. Twenty dollars for a set of 2 pods with a switch, I cut the switch off and added another toggle switch that fit on the plastic panel ahead of the gas tank. They only had one purple so had to order my other set in. Keep in mind, If you order from them I can pick the lights up and mail them to you.
Here is a link to a place I have ordered from before and have been pleased with the pods received.

Bought my lights today blue Maybe the police will leave me alone. I will put them on at the wrench session. I hope there will be someone with electrical experience there.
I got the full set for the bike and will install them soon. After a foggy ride the bike with the yellow light cut the fog. So I am going with Yellow with two red lights under the tank.

Just make sure there are no lights facing forwards or backwards (visiable) and not flashing, and they shouldn't have a leg to stand on.. (at least with Florida Law).

I have yellow ones pointing forward and back, these will only accent the motor and wheels maybe
I got purple for my wifes bike and I have a full set of orange comming for my magna.
Since my magna is black and orange i figured the orange would be nice. Another plus is the orange is like marker lights so the fuzz shouldn't bug me!
Finished putting my lights on today. Cant wait till tonight to really see how they look. I will take some pics and post. Greg C. thanks for the switch suggestions. Ended up using the one that came with the lights and mounted them on bottom side of fake crome air cleaner cover on left. You cant see it but is easy access for emergencies ( red and blue blinking lights behind me). Will not have to do these at wrench session now. However, if I need to work on the gas mixture will I need to take them completely off again?

Jim, how many lights did you use, where did you place them? Looks good!
I used 6 singles on each side. I have 8 more that go to back wheel but did not put them on for now. Thanks for the comp.
