Title: South Texas Region
Post by: Dlcarrales on December 16, 2008, 12:01:40 PM
Would like to get a feel for how many people from the South Texas Region read the forum.  We are in the process of trying to get organized down here and are planning our 1st wrench session in the next couple of weeks.  We are going to do Sprockets, chains, and a basic oil change and then a ride afterwords.  If interested or not if you are here in the South Texas Region, let me know.

I live in McAllen.  Would probably take people from around here and meet at Delta Lake for the wrench session and possibly BBQ while wrenching and then go for a ride from here to say Port Mansfield or So. Padre.

Here is a map of the region

The Make A Wish Foundation is having a poker run this Sunday, May 31.  I will be putting together a small group and am inviting anyone to ride with us.  So far just 2 magna's including mine so would like to get more participation.  They have not finalized the route yet.  We can meet at my office around 8:00am.  Ride is $50 per bike and is for a very good cause.  Ride starts at Burns Motors and ends at the outback steakhouse where food and drinks will be provided.  They will be raffling a 2 bike Bike custom trailer and will have door prizes etc.  PM me with your e-mail and I will send you a flyer.  I did this ride last year and had a great time.

I am going to be working on my bike this Saturday morning if anyone is interested in joining me.  Going to install an electrical socket, oil change, and put on some passenger armrests that I ordered that should arrive Friday.  Getting the bike ready for MOOT MAG #7.  Have you registered yet? If anyone is interested on helping or just want to do some maintenance on their bikes you are more than welcome.  Let me know.

Ok, finished the mods.  Wasnt happy with the armrest I got because they were designed for moving in and out for easy entrance but did not lock down good.  Ended up drilling through them and inserting Lynch Pins to secure.  Works fine now.  Also added the electrical socket direct to the battery with a 10amp fuse.

There is a new forum down here www.rgvcycles.com .  They meet up on Thursday nights around 8:00 at Java Girls which is just South of Nolana on Jackson Road here in McAllen (Pharr).  Its on the East side of Jackson.  I went last night to meet these guy.  Mostly Sport bikes but cruisers also welcome.  I was the only Magna there.  I plan to go again next Thursday if anyone want to meet out there let me know.  There some members of this group from Corpus also so those of you in that area may want to look into this.

Ok, Left in the rain around 8:00, by the time we got to Weslaco the rain cleared.  Rode back by myself to beat the crowd before they closed the causeway for the parade and bicycle race, hit rain again in Harlingen but cleared up by La feria.  Had a great time.  James from Brownsville met us on Hwy 100 at the Valero with a few more riders from Brownsville.  Met Brian Andress from MI/Brownsville and his wife there at the convention center (nice folks). We split up the pack and I led about 8 bikes the rest of the way in to the convention center.  Had a great time with a mixed group of bikes and the Java girls.

Link to some pictures.  Enjoy.

Thanks for the photos, looked like you had a good group of riders, did you have two different groups, sport bikes & cruisers?

Not really, on the last leg my group was mixed, had a cruiser (Kawasaki) and one FJR, the rest were sport bikes.

Allen did the cooking.  He shared the food, it was GREAT!  Greg also shared his birthday cake.  Didn't take the kid's fish, a neighbor donated it to us. I'll Charles respond to that comment about the bike.... :-P
