Title: Handlebar Grips
Post by: TLRam1 on January 21, 2009, 12:46:52 AM
Has anyone changed there's out?

I don't want to spend the money for Kuryakyn's.

Trying to locate alternatives, if you see any you like not too expensive, post them up.

Kury's are worth it. (says the guy with arthritis in his thumbs).  I found mine on Amazon, saved about $15 compared to the Honda dealer.

I've always wondered if the aftermarket grips offered any function upgrade, or if it was just form.  Not trying to hijack your post Terry, but I am interested in some opinions, as I am still using my stockers.

Iso Grips are an improvement on V-twins as they help with reducing vibration to the hands.. My wife has them on her Sabre.
I have not found a need for them on the Magna for this reason.. I still run stock grips..
I'm also fruggle with my money and I am too cheap to buy them just for looks..

Hoot, I'm pretty much the same way.  All my upgrades have been mostly to improve function, but when I do an upgrade form does come into play, I mean, it has to look good, right.  Closest thing I've done that is more form then function was the Billsky taillight mod, along with shortening the rear signal stalks.

As far as the grips I should have been more specific to form vs. function on a Magna.  I like the full round rubber on the stock grips and was just questioning whether there's any function improvement for grips on a Magna.

The bike I picked up has a case of the splits otherwise they would be left, since I need new ones I thought I would try some for looks. I never looked into the cost of replacing with stock as I thought some aftermarket ones would be good to try.

Some grips look like they go over your old throttle tube while others include the throttle tube as one piece. Anyone ran into problems or hassles you can elude to?

I lean towards the top three, still looking.

If you don't find what your looking for in the aftermarket grips, I have a set of stock grips being sent to me, they are yours if you want them.

Can I hijack this thread for a second.. (sort of)
My wife swapped out her handle bars on her Sabre.
I was going to put them on my Magna (they would bring the bars back about another inch).
I got half way through the job and realized that the Magna handlebars have a nut in the end of the bar on the right side that the grip cap screws into. The Sabre bars did not have this, so I abandoned the effort. (I purchased riser extensions instead).
How does this Nut play into replacement grips, and how have people worked around this when replacing handlebars?

You are now being returned to your regular programming.

Thanx

Thanks Hoot, that's my question also or what I was trying to get to.

Grips and ends Hoot was referring to.

During one of Roberts disassembles I took the opportunity of a few photos.
