Robert came over to drill out and install new chrome risers, I didn't get a good photo, you can get an idea of what they look like here. His previous risers were Cycle-istic and had to be turned around backwards to clear his Valk tank conversion.

Frustration sets in after 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, (I stopped counting) times of removing his throttle cable for adjustment, replace, tighten, loosen, put the throttle grip back on etc.

Robert will have a much needed improved riding position.
Nice Air horn mount on the trumpets..
I wish I had a better shot of the saddle bags..

Next time he is over I can do that, what part did you want? I wanted to have a better photo of his risers also. I may have another I didn't post also. I have no idea ..... but at some point he may be willing to sell the Cycle-istic risers.
Robert is the Throttle King for sure if anyone needs to know about throttle cable or grip removal.
Mentioning Trumpets, Bob had to use his on Saturday as a semi was pushing a car over in his lane twice than he had to swerve for a large rolled up wade of carpet padding in the middle of the road, startled me as I was behind Bob paying attention to the car/semi I didn't see the padding until I was upon the obstacle.
Brenda rode on the bike when we went to eat at Blue Goose so I can only guess she is okay with the CT.

We had a guy locally here last month who came across a Christmas tree in the road and could not avoid it.. I survived, but I think he broke his arm and had cuts, etc.. Not to mention the damage to the bike...
Someone didn't secure the tree well to the their vehicle.. If they were paying attention, you would have thought they would have noticed a 8 foot tree flying by their rear glass of their vehicle.. But NO... :x
They likely saw it go and did not care. I amazed at the stuff I see in the road here in houston. The other morning several 5 gal buckets of white paint fell off of semi. People were just driving right thru the wet paint, oblivious to it. The semi had stopped a little way up the road and was securing his load. When I came home it looked like someone had put sand on the paint, not sure if it was the driver or the county though.

A little up date on the risers. The risers do not have a little indenting for the mounting of the risers to the tripletree. So I will be adding a washer to create the indenting to have a proper fit to the top of the tripletree.
Terry helped me drill out my spacers to accommodate the bigger bolts. I believe we drilled it out 1/32 of an inch to get the bolt to fit.
I will take a picture after getting the washers installed.
Hole Diameter: 1"
Width: 1.25"
Total Height: 6.75"
Height from bottom to center of hole: 5.5"
Pull Back: 1.25"
Bottom Mount: M10 thread bolt

I have a question. I just got some risers, but the risers have bushings inside them. Well.., the stock riser bushings are 'on the bike'. W/ Both on, there's too much 'play' on the handle bars. I think I Need to remove the riser bushings from "the triple tree"? (The question mark is because I don't know much about bike repair & I'm thinking this is what that part the stock risers go through is called.)
HOW DO I ACCOMPLISH DOING THAT? Is that what I Need to be doing to install the new risers & not have a bunch of movement on the handle bars?
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks,
Adrian (MOOT #700)
Can you take a pic of the offending parts. Now as for the triple tree you cannot take those out well not with out drilling LOL they are vulcanized to the tree. The risers you got are for a Magna which model or year?
By your reply; it's the triple tree. When you pull the stock risers off, it's the metal part that the risers go through that is 'embedded' in rubber. I tried to hammer down on it, pry @ it.., I even cut @ the rubber, while prying @ the metal piece inside the rubber. "Vulcanized" sound right. The risers I got were purported to be for Magnas & now I can't return them. They have 'damping' properties also. This is why I figured, "take one of them out". I figured I could just find tubing or something to fill in the larger hole on the triple tree.., Oh, Yeah! But those riser bushings have to come out 1st. "Square 1".
Do you think I should just install the risers & "deal" w/ the 'extra' play on the handle bars? Thanks, Skakagrachi (MOOT #700)
I would not mess with the triple tree if you can cut the rubber off the risers then I would cut them off other than that I have Hardley risers on my bike and the PO had to drill the metal part out a little to make them fit !!!
I think your issue is similar to Roberts above. Your risers do not have a recess for the riser bushing stem to go into and your risers do not contact the triple tree, correct?
If so, do what Robert will do and add a washer (fab one if need be) that will fit around the bushing protruding out of the triple tree so the risers have a large flat surface to be torqued against. If you add a washer a little higher than the bushing sticking out of the triple tree the riser will press onto the washer and the washer onto the triple tree for a solid mount.
I agree try messing with the risers first. I have added the washers have not had time to take pictures. The risers themselves did not have a rubber bushing they where just a flat surface.

Due to availability and price, I have Harley risers on the Magna and the Valk, You only have to drill the hole out 0.001 for the 1/2" bolt used on the Harley risers.

What brand risers are they?

The Risers and my Birthday gift Zumo 450. I have mounted it but not wired it in yet. Been playing with it on its internal battery.

I moved the GPS mount. It is now just to the left of the left riser. It was blocking the turn indicator light. It blocks the speedometer but it displays my speed. I did not want it on the right it would blocking the oil and over-temp lights.
I replaced my Garman with a Magellan. The Garman was mounted close to the gauges. I moved the Magellan to the handlebars, close to the signal switch. I like it better, but some of that may be just that I like the Magellan better than the Garman.

Looks good. As you may know keep a watch on the tie-wraps they become brittle. I have made a tether for my Garmin so if it should come out of its cradle.
I may move it again
Guy;
Am I supposed to accept the KEWT doggie in place of the SeaFoam?
Nice Victory.. Looks like you have a thing for RED bikes...
Looks to be the older style Victory touring bike.
Now see if Guy were creative..
He would have pulled up the SeaFoam Home office on his Magellan, then took the picture...
I would have provided him with a get out of Jail Free card for that one!!!

Hoot. I thought it went without saying. The Seafoam is IN the gas tank.
Thanks for noticing Vic. Yep I like red.
Thanks Robert, for the heads up on the wire ties. Now that someone says it, yeah they will get old. I'll get a decent looking band clamp of some kind.

Man - I looked, but you must use WAY too little because it's so diluted, I couldn't see it...
Charles, you said you drilled out for Harley risers. How Hard? and what do you think about this product at dennis kirks

Looking for the easiest way(and least expensive) to change risers and bars.
Thanks,
David
I know you asked Charles but here is my 2 cents.
If I had seen this I probably would have tried it. Off the top of my head my concerns would be.
Number of threads going in to the risers.
Length of the center section and the distance in the triple-tree.
Have a nice day

Obviously the rest of the bike needs some cleaning and tlc, that's coming, but first it has to be comfortable 8).
Nice Gauges.. Looks like the bike also needs some SeaFoam!!!
And just so no one gets the wrong impression those risers are not on his Magna those are on his VALK LOL
