Title: battery
Post by: rjb/AKA Bob Barram on February 01, 2009, 09:57:01 AM
When I put a new after market battery in my Rocket I had to change the terminal cables from the back to the front because the + - were on the wrong side of the battery. Well the + side was too close to the frame and inspite of the post protection I hit a bump and the frame made contact with the post and cooked the battery. Thankfully all that happened was the cooked battery, got a new one installed thanks to Allen and his transportation support!

What did you do different to prevent a recurrence?

The new battery has the terminals in the correct position. If I had to do it again I would put a solid piece of rubber between the terminal wire and the frame. The plastic that was there around the terminal wire lasted about a second, I imagine. It was not rubbing but it was close enought that when the big bump came it hit.
