You could be on to something but...check your connections, esp. your battery connections.

Yes, look at the battery and use a wrench to tighten the terminals not a screwdriver.

If you have corrosion on the battery connections, it may not show from the outside, and tightening will be a temporary fix at best.  If it were mine, I would remove the cables from the battery, clean both the connectors and the battery terminals, then replace them.  If you don't see any white powdery substance in either connection, then this is probably not the problem.

That's what I said, you just didn't have your xray glasses on.

I had the same problem with no white stuff, enough other stuff to prevent a good connection. I remember this well, I tightened the connections and nothing, took it apart and didn't see a problem, clean anyway with a wire brush and all is well! Normally, you will see the problem once you disassemble.

Wouldn't hurt to check and clean the other end of both of the battery cables while your at it.

Would some dielectric grease help prevent corrosion as well?

Yep that would work I have also found and I use this on my cars is put a penny between the leads somewhere it acts as a anode and keeps the corrosion down!!
