I am installing two LED turn signals on the back of my bike and removing the stock lights.
I am mounting the new lights onto some new saddle bags I purchased and the stock signals are in the way (This is the why)
I know if I just hook up the LED's the blinkers are going to blick too fast due to the reduced load.
So - to the question - can I
1) just place a resistor someplace to fake out the flasher unit, or
2) do I need to purchase a product from someone?
1) Instructions please (Including recommended resistance and wattage)
2) Any suggestions on Product, place to buy.. (Cheaper the better!!!)

Hoot, I have two load equalizers you can have, they are in the bronze case for LED's.
I, instead of splicing wires, went with a plug & play electronic flasher that plugs directly into our factory connector.
I may have a photo, let me check. BTW, the flasher was about 25.00 shipped, maybe less, I would have to check that also. Let me know what direction you want to go.
Don't know if you could pull this off or not, but what would be ideal (in my view) would be to put in enough LED's to match the incandescents you are removing. You would get a lot more light for the same current.
And, I think that the lower current will make them flash too slow -- or not at all.
It would not be all that difficult to design a flasher whose rate was independent of the load -- just put a maximum load rating on it. I suppose no one would pay the price that one would have to charge for such a unit, but it could solve a host of problems.
If you go the flasher route it is the ELFR-1 Plug-And-Play Electronic LED Flasher Relay to be found here. It may fit inside the rubber holder and/or I zip-tied it to the current metal tab that holds the factory one.

I installed LEDs front and rear 3 years ago. I got a flasher unit that was INDEPENDENT of load, that is, it will flash at a set rate no matter what the load. Custom Dynamics carry LEDs and all the dodads.

I went the flasher route.. This way if I later replace the fronts with LED's I will have no issues..
Flasher would be the easiest way for sure, there are some less expensive flashers out there, this one I had researched and would work with no mods or difficulty in mounting.
I'm curious has anyone come across a flexible LED strip light that does Run/Stop/Left/Right turn??? A friend of mine has one on his Electra-Glide and it looks damm slick he said he bought it off of Ebay but i have been unable to find one. It is illegal in any place that requires a minimum distance between turn signals or between brake lights and turn signals.
I have seen something like those Justin, with a little searching might be able to find them again.

Thanks, the custom flexible LED array is exactly what I'm looking for the back of the magna. Can't wait to get ride of that big plastic bracket on the back. Just need to figure out a good spot to side mount the license plate.
I fabed a 2 strip light for the brake light with these strips and recessed the unit in the end of the fender, so you can't see it from the sides.
I relocated my licence plate to the left side, mounted vertically and secured in the same location the helmet lock was located. On the outboard side, I mounted a 6 light chromed LED strip. You don't really see it unless if your looking for it (the light that is!).
I'd like to post some pics sometime I get off my duff & figure it out.

It is a direct replacement for the flasher unit...
It doesn't matter what the load is, it flashes at the same rate..
The only weird thing is it doesn't click like a regular relay (Because it's not).. I guess I'll just have to get used to the silence..

I'm the good man?? You gave the good advice!!! This is a great solution.. Just pop off the old flasher and pop in the new unit.. DONE.. I did have to double stick tape the unit to the rubber holder that holds the flasher behind the battery..
I didn't have to worry about left and right side wires, and stripping and soldering and heat shrink and, and, and..

Hootmon, It does sound like that is the best route to take for ease of install and option of going back to stock (as you said in earlier post). Sorry I did not read back through it all before I posted.
Terry, thanks for your offer, not quite to the point of needing anything, but will sure keep that offer in mind if you still have em' when the time comes.
I think if we had a vote on this board for who "the good man" is it would be just about a dead even tie with a nomination for every single member.
