April 17-19 is the official Ennis Texas Bluebonnet Festival.
I'm seeing some popping out here on the road and may take a ride down that way this Saturday to do some pre-scouting.
Maybe we can get a ride organized with a lunch stop at Bubba's BBQ (pick yur own meat, airplanes hangin' from the ceiling).
Last year I couldn't find enough blues to fill my helmet, so we're due this year.
Check it out.

Bluebonnets... Is that a type of Mushroom?? :???: :P
yes it a little mushroom that eats orange blossoms.
Bubba's is a potential MOOTMAG sponsor, so if you go by there be sure to mention is to the owner.
BTW, he loves Rockets.

Dude, the cows won't even eat these things.
They'll send you on a trip... a trip to the crapper (or emergency room)

Sweet ride DL..

ROFL!!
I got some scouting done yesterday around Ennis and the bluebonnets are coming around. I rode Fm 660, 1181 and 813. Lunched in Waxahachie at the Catfish Plantation then took 66 out of Waxahachie to Maypearl, picked up 157 north to 875 east and finally 664 north back up to my neighborhood. Out and back was 148 miles. Plenty of twisty up and down highway to keep people awake.
JumboBret expressed some interest in riding with me next weekend so I think I'll try to finalize a route for a group. I'd like to time this out so that we can eat at Bubba's BBQ in Ennis.
What's going on the weekend of the April 12th? That's a week before Easter. Anybody game for a ride through Ellis county?
I checked a calender and company web page for our holidays and April 12 is Easter.

You are right. I need to move this up a week to the 4th of April.
Bret is going to come over this Saturday the 28th about mid morning. This will be an extended scouting/pre-ride. If anyone else wants to tag along let me know so we can coordinate a time schedule. I hope to do Bubba's for lunch.
Weather looks to be partly cloudy and 70 degrees.
Better check the forecast again, they are calling for lows in the mid 30's on Friday and highs in the mid 50's on Saturday!!!! TOO COLD!

It's Texas weather. We will see. Unfortunately, the temperature continues to slide a bit as we get closer to Saturday.
What are you saying "too cold". You're from northern Ohio. I thought they washed you kids in ice water when you were young. Southern living in McKinney, TX has softened you up John. Too cold, indeed.
I guess I'm just spoiled, but if it's not 60 degrees, it's just too cold for me to ride. Takes all the fun out of it! They are also forecasting wind gusts around 40 mph on Friday night, and there's a blizzard warning in the panhandle! What about Sunday? They are saying highs in the upper 60's for Sunday??
Yea, were getting a cold front down here too. Lows in upper 50's and highs in low 80's. :-P

May have to now. Looks like the high has now slipped to 55 degrees. That's getting into my uncomfortable zone. I'll have to check with the "Main Squeeze" and see what the Sunday schedule is after Mass.

I made a day trip down to Houston today (Thursday). Already warm and humid (nasty). Rained like a monsoon for about an hour and finally cooled off towards dark. Big ol' bugs smacking the windshield of the van on the way back.
I'm just looking for Sunday in Dallas now.

Welcome to my world....You should come down on a clear day and enjoy some of our Great Polution.....
All right. the plan is to postpone the pre-ride one day to Sunday the 29th for better weather. Probably try to leave around 11:00 a.m. (do night Mass to stay in good with the King). Taking off from here in DeSoto and doing lunch at Bubba's BBQ in Ennis around 1:00 pm.
If you are interested, let me know.

I was in Rio Grande City on the 26th. The temperature on the mirror in my pickup said 100degf. The bank sign had 99. Waking up in Katy this morning with 42 was a shock to the system.

John woke up this morning to snow blowing around in McKinney.
Looks like 80 degrees next Saturday and a good day for the real ride.
Well as usual it didnt get as cold as they thought. Probably 58 when I fed the dogs this morning. Wore my perforated riding jacket to work this morning and it is 63 now. I have to work the home show at the convention center at noon, after I get out at 2:00 expecting mid to high 70's. Yesterday it was 101 when I picked up my daughter at 3:30!
Should be a great weekend for riding.

Great day for a ride, Bubba's BBQ was good, weather was awesome, hopefully work will cooperate and I can make the "real" ride next weekend!
