Title: Won't start
Post by: Jeffrey85 on May 12, 2009, 10:54:50 AM
My 1985 Honda Magna Vf700c with 5k on the odometer won't start.  i think it's the starter since when testing the wiring there is good current to the starter but not a whisper from the actual starter. Bike has set for the winter.

Where should I start and does this sound like a common problem?

1.Does the motor turn over?

2. Can you push start it?

3. Pull the plugs and try with no compression.

4.How do you know you have good current at the starter?

5. How do you know your battery is good, could hook a car charger to the battery and give it a whirl.

6. If possible you can by-pass solenoid switch.

If you haven't take off the cables from the battery, clean and reattach, check ground cables.
