Title: Brake Job Advice
Post by: MagnaDaddy on May 24, 2009, 09:54:10 AM
This comes under the topic of "helpful hints" or please learn from my mistakes

When replacing the brake shoes remember to loosen the screws on the reservoir BEFORE you compress pistons on the second brake....  Everything went fine on the right side and then while I was putting that back on the bike my son decided to be helpful and start compressing the left, naturally I'd overlooked cracking the seal on the reservoir and pop goes the sight glass....   My Garage now has a beautiful bit of brake fluid art on the wall and I'm currently waiting on the sealant to dry on the sight glass before I can test the brakes.

Provers the old addage that it is much more fun, and entertaining to learn fro others mistakes  :(

Thanks for the tip, Ken. I hope you didn't get any custom etchings on the paint or plastics, too.

Nope, when she blew the pressure musta been pretty high cause it splattered all the way up to the ceiling on the wall about 6 feet away and didn't get any on the Magna at all  8-)
