Title: New Magna V65 Owner
Post by: digger1 on May 28, 2009, 02:58:34 PM
Wanted to say hi and get some forum feedback on a 1984 Magna V65 I just picked up. Unfortunately the bike is in pretty rough shape though the motor is sound. Up here parts for V65's are scarce and I was wondering does the V65 share any parts with any other models.

Thks

Welcome from Safety Harbor, Floriduh...
I am a Gen 3 Magna Owner, so I can't help you with your question..

Can you fill in your profile a little (add a signature with bike type and your location) so we know where you are at??

The one think I know about V65's is check the Fork Brace really well. They are known for cracking and causing crashes.. They sell replacements on E-bay... Use the search function on this site and you should be able to find some forum talk on the subject...

Once again.. welcome!!!

The V65 is a very unique bike.  A V65 Magna and V65 Sabre have the same drivetrain, but the frame and bodywork are night and day as well as most of the other parts.  The engine/driveshaft is about the only things that swap out on the two.

Thanks so one option is to swap the engine into a Sabre.

An engine swap from a Sabre to a Magna, provided the size is the same, would be pretty straightforward.  The motor mounts are likely different, definetely the air box/plenum.
Go to this forum, while not as cool as this one there are more 1st gen owners on it and lots of good info.  Sometimes they can be harsh on noobs, just take it in stride.
