Title: '94 transmission "whine"
Post by: hootmon on June 22, 2009, 09:31:10 PM
still on my trip back from Va... I elected to give up on my MP3 player and just go with earplugs... With the earplugs in, there is a notable transmission whine in 4th and 5th gear under load... I am unsure if this has always been there, or something new... My bike has near 70K... does this sound familiar to anyone... Can some try some foam earplugs and take a quick run on their Gen 3 and see if you hear a whine from the tranny??? If I pull in the clutch or let off the gas the whine goes away... I replaced my oil just prior to the present trip... The chain could be a little tighter, but nothing major... Any suggestions? Helpful comments??Thanx

I don't have any earplugs but I will listen real close on the way into work tomorrow.  Sometimes i hear something that sounds like a tranny whine  but I have always written it off to tire or road surface noise.  I have 19000 miles btw.

I ride with ear plugs and have not noticed any "whine" from my bike.  Also only have 19K on "Serenity".

I also ride with earplugs, but that is because I am losing my hearing (and lots of other important faculties, ) and want to preserve what I have left as best I can.

Add in the Cobra Pipes, helmet wind noise, tires on the road noise, etc., etc., and I don't hear any tranny noise at all!!  Or much of anything else, for that matter...

The only whine I ever hear from a Magna is "I need to stop for fuel". ha ha ha (ducking and running)

You're right Allen, at 50 mph the Valk tranny howls like a banshee, and my Kury chrome tranny cover seems to amplify it.

Ain't that the truth ..

I don't get to ride Brenda's Magna much anymore, but haven't noticed any tranny whine when I have.

I have not noticed a whine in "Baby Vee" since I bought her.

I suggest you put your MP3 player back in your ears, put on AC/DC Live and turn it waaaay up. This should eliminate the whining noise.

It also might help to buy some fresh feta cheese to enjoy with your whine. Just a thought.

How much do you want for that cat with the Star Trek hairdo :?: :?: :?:

Hope his is better than mine on the digital converter box. My stuff gets pixelated off and on and the audio has a bunch of trash white noise in it when the volume is up above average.
