Title: 1984 Magna 700C rear shocks
Post by: bwbreece on July 05, 2009, 05:11:02 PM
Hey guys, i'm new here, want to say hello and i have a question.  I am working on changing my 84 700 into more of a lowered bike and i was wondering if any of you guys knew the actual factory length (eye/eye) on the rear shocks?  Because i think i want to put some 12.5 progressive shocks on but i dont know how much difference in inches that would be compared to the factory ones?  Curious if any of you guys have had experience in doing this and maybe even some recommendations?  Just trying to slam the back down as far as i can so not sure if i should go with the 11 or 11.5?   Thanks ahead of time and much appreciated!

Welcome to MOOT, someone will chime in and give you some assistance. Can you take off one of your rear shocks for a measurement?

yeah i can but i was kinda looking for a quick answer rather than taking it off because i dont have a motorcycle lift or anything.  But maybe if no body jumps in i will end up riggin' something up to take it off.

IIRC it is 13 inches stock.  I put the 11.5 inch progressives on my bike.
Remember, when you lower it the kickstand may need to be shortened.  I lowered the rear and front of mine and had to modify the kickstand for it to even work.
