to go look at this bike. About 2 hour drive. Going after work.
Anyone got any advice or recommendations at what to look for or listen to when I go and take a look? I am aware of the cam oiling issue. Thanks in advance!
Opinions?

I have a bad habit of looking at the bike as a whole and not at the small stuff, until I get home. You know what your wanting the bike for and how you want it to end up looking, so look at the small details so you know if they will clean up or have to be replaced, like I said I Look at the bike and if it sounds and runs good I tend to forget things like broken fork braces, wheels with bad chrome or aluminum so pitted that it will have to be removed to polish or be replaced. Exhaust are hard to find so be sure you can live with what's on it or at least consider the price of replacing them. If it doesn't run smooth at all rpms consider the price of carbs. I know some of the V65 guys will chime in and be a little more detailed things to look for mechanically, these are just some things I don't pay close enough attention to, that will ruin a seemingly good deal. Good luck..

Check for leaking fork seals....either by compressing the forks or by slicing the guard, and looking underneath the seal.
Check to see if the valve covers are leaking oil.
Check the clutch to see if its on its way out.
Check for tire rot.
Check 2nd gear for issues.
Ditto on what Charles said, just test ride it and if it doesn't come apart on ya you should be ok. Being a 1 owner you should be able to know everything that has happened to it.
Seals and gaskets are for the most part easy to find. Replacing 2nd gear is not. Check the fork brace for cracks.
It's hard to tell from the pic on some stuff but here goes.
It has a KG slider backrest, nice addition.
Engine guard, after market or for another bike? doesnt look like Hondaline.
Rear sub-fender (piece with rear turn signals) appears further back than usual.
And it's already the perfect color for a bike! :-P

If the tank is the only thing wrong with the bike, that's not a big problem, although you might be able to talk her down on the price using the cost of a tank and painting it as leverage.
I would put a kit in the carbs. As you can see weeping fuel stains on the bowls, a strong sign that the seals, o-rings, gaskets, etc are failing.
Thanks for the replies everyone, I'm gonna pass on this one.
However, look at what came up for sale right up the road from me, and I have first look....
