Title: No headlight, no elect. start, runs fine
Post by: drkngas on August 18, 2009, 05:29:46 PM
Ok, So this isn't a Magna.  I'm in Rio Grande City, my son is in Katy.  He called me from work saying that he had to push start his Shadow 600.  Besides not starting or even engaging the starter, it ran fine but had no headlight.  Anyone seen a similar problem or have any ideas?

Yep sure do tell him to take the switch apart on his handle bars...

I think Honda did this just to play a joke on us funny Americans LOL the Valk and the Magna share the same fate also the headlight circut runs thru the start switch and this is not good for the switch but most likely it is dirty and the contacts just need a good cleaning but bet you that is where it is at...

I had the same problem.  I took my switch apart, as suggested above, and sprayed some electrical cleaner that I bought at Home Depot, in the electrical dept., on it.  Cured the problem right away.

Hey guys, thanks for the delayed response.  I downloaded a wiring diagram and spotted that right away. Fixed it last night as soon as I got home from the Rio Grande Valley.  I actually had to bend the switch contacts up a little.  Works great!
