This is the proper technique and is easier for women who have more strength in their lower bodies.
Just make sure when you are picking up the bike from the rights side toward the left to put down the kickstand 1st, otherwise it may go right over and you will find yourself picking up the bike from the other side!!!
I couldn't hear what she was saying, but make sure it's in gear and it will help if the front brake is locked, (tie it with something) if your lifting from the left side.
