In the next few days, I'm going to outline how to build / modify a garage door opener to be mounted remotely in the bike.
It will trigger using the low/high beam switch and works like some products sold elswhere.

Most "genie" brand door openers that use rolling code, run on a 12V battery which is perfect. We can get rid of the battery and power the unit from the bike.
The pictures and schematic show what you will need and how to connect it.
I'll describe how the system works in a new reply here once i've tested it.
9V units would add the extra regulator.
(more info to come)

My openers operate from a 9v battery, but I feel confident that this is regulated down to something lower. The same regulator may well withstand 14-16V from the bike, I don't know.
can always put a little linear regulator in front
My garage door opener is run off of a 9v battery. I chose not to use the bikes power, although you could get a small dc-dc converter or something for it to take the place of the battery. Here is my write up on what I did:

My garage door opener owns a yellow Magna and regular responds to Hootmon..
Not really.. I did a Garage door opener install using a push button.. It has been 90% successful for me so far.. I think a little water got into the button and occasionally it doesn't work, but does the vast majority of the time.
I picked up an opener off e-bay that attaches to your key chain. It's about 1-1/2" square and hangs from the ignition key. I've ridden in the rain a few times with it and it hasn't failed yet.
