Got stranded the other day until I had a friend help me out with jumper cables.
I took out the battery this morning, and the fluid is below the lower level. The battery is about 2 years old.
Should I add distilled water, and put it so that its b/w high and low (in the middle) or should I buy a new battery?
Thanks.

Does the battery have screw tops to add water or a strip that seals the holes?
IF it has screw tops, add distilled water and charge (you may also want to check your regulator, because something is making the water evaporate (Overcharging will do this)
IF it has a strip - then it is a gel battery. The level is supposed to be low.. You can try adding water, but and you may get a little more life out of the battery, but it's on it's way out for sure.

Not necessarily so, in fact it is probably the more common and better AGM battery (Absorbed Glass Mat).

Correct, this is more likely.
OK OK.. AGM vs Gel.. The point was, with the strip type battery, they are supposed to be a fill once battery and the level is not typically viewed the same as a standard battery (look in the holes and see the water level)... The electrolyte is held by the pads..
I believe the info is still correct, if not the proper name for the battery type..

Mine was the same way recently, (it has a strip that I installed after filling it with acid when new) and I brought the level up with distilled water. I would say the acid was down to about half the needed amount. So far it is running fine since doing this.
Did it.
Now we wait and see if I get stranded again.
Just like that psychological effect...
I was stranded in an Autozone parking lot...full of bikers...on a busy road.
No one offered to help as I desperately tried to bump start my motorcycle
