Very interesting, and maybe a glimpse of the future:
Interesting that they chose to sell through Best Buy instead of a motorcycle shop
BRAMMO ELECTRIC M/C (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3IcwiDHTADE)
Here is an off-road version by another company
Zero MX (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sz7-ex7QYlQ)
wow.
I like it.
I mean nothing sounds better than a mean growl or thump thump of a motorcycle...but I hate paying for foreign oil. I'd think I'd rather make the electric company rich than the big oil tycoons.
If I could have an electric truck that only had a range of 100 miles...I'd do it.
+1 for better technology.
If I was commuting on a bike, this might be an option. Could charge it every night, and ride it for short commute.
50 mile range and 4 hour recharge time is very limiting.
The limitation, of course, as it has always been, is in the batteries. Gasoline as a store of energy is very light weight. We have learned to deal with or tolerate its explosive potential, and it has set our expectations for range and ease of replacement. I think batteries will eventually get good enough to garner widespread acceptance, but I probably will not live to see it -- and, I believe we will have to go through a painful learning cycle to deal with the explosive potential of any battery technology with energy density approaching gasoline. Witness the "burning laptop" phenomenon.
I'll take one with a "Mr Fusion." power unit.

I like the concept but I still can't see $8K for an in town commuter. In that sense get a scooter (moped). For open road you need a longer range. I am sweating it with 100 miles on my Magna...
Maybe if the made the Battery covers and the wheels into solar cells you could go farther..
Well... Not at night of course!!!
