Hoot, you need to make it to Texas in the spring (right after April 15 is the usual optimum) so you can see what a bluebonnet looks like.

Those sissy looking valve caps ain't even close.

I'm sure you feel about the Bluebonnets like I feel about  California Golden Poppy (http://cache1.asset-cache.net/xc/200326999-001.jpg?v=1&c=IWSAsset&k=2&d=6C4008C0FD9EB5A5CE46725BAE803D2F042AE0F2A9924AF65ED7396F302966EE00123AA3B5A18ED0)

Hey Terry-

Looking at your sig I see you have some Suzuki GT750's.

About 6 yrs ago I had an original J series 72 GT750 restored.  But I never got a secure feeling in the reliability department so that is where Ole Blue came in.

Troy,

What did you end up doing with it?

The 750's were one of the most reliable of the 2 strokes back in the day and still are but nothing compared to the Magna or other modern day bikes. I know a guy from Florida who toured the US and parts of Canada a few months back, put around 7-8000 miles on with he and his wife aboard. I think he is at 130,000 miles on his with a top end rebuild probably done at a little over 100k.

What color was your 72? Who restored the bike, was the crank rebuilt, do you have photos?

Terry-

It was the Red (Purple) color.  It had <20K miles on it and was rotting in a storage shed.

My ex-father in law has a Kawasaki Vulcan and he always wanted me to ride with him but I refused to ride bitch.  His father bought the GT 750 and the oldest son had it in an old shed.  The engine was seized and it was a giant paper weight.

I told the two brothers (aka father in law and his brother) that I would have it restored and then I would get to "use" it to ride with my father in law.

I drug the bike from Plaucheville Louisiana to Dallas and found an odd, eccentric bike genius in Denton who used to own a shop and raced professionally.

I will try to dig up some information on the guy who did the work but since he was "old school" micro fiche and mail only I have no emails from him to look back on.

The seals gave and the center cylinder flooded so he tore the engine apart and did a "one over" bore and piston job.

I got "most" of my parts from Ken @ KnKCycles@aol.com

After about 2 years of restoration and > $5k in the bike I got a divorce and I did the honorable thing and gave the bike back to the uncle in law.  What I should have done was keep the bike and give the ex wife back...
