I am thinking of holding a wrench session at my house, in Van, for routine maintenance July 31. Oil changes, chain, etc. I am going to replace my starter/stop switch. Everyone is welcome to come. Will head down to Edom later and eat at little place called Maggies. Been chosen to have the best catfish in East Texas. They have pretty good burgers also. I have most of the tools we will need for routine, but if you want to do something larger we may need to see about tools. See you on the 31st.
Have a friend here in that rides a Suzuki Intruder, he is having some clutch problems. He is thinking of coming to the wrench session, I know nothing about clutches, can anyone come and help us?
Quotehe is having some clutch problems.
Cable or hydraulic?

Hi Thuy,
Welcome to the forum. It takes a little over 4 hours. There is one in central texas close to austin on the 17th, do not know if that is a good day for yoiu. It would be alot closer. If the 17th is not good you are welcome to come up on the 31st. Let me know.
Jim
Hi Jim,
I was planning on going to Greg's until it was moved too far outta my range. Do you know how to replace fork seals ? Basically that is the worst I have to deal with. The other stuff is just maintenance - Chain and oil/filter.
Thanks,
Chris
Ok this is going to happen. We still need someone with transmission knowledge and front seal knowledge to come. If you are planning on coming PM me and I will give you directions. Garage will open around 8AM and close when the last one leaves.
Jim , I plan on coming if nothing happens. I've done rour or five fork seals. Pretty straight forward, be sure to have the correct amount of fluid, seals and dust covers on hand. I'll bring the rest of the tools I use. If anything changes I'll let you know as soon as I can.
Chris come on charles is coming and has done seals
Great, look forward to it. I already picked up the parts , see you guys then.
Okay this has turned into an involved session.
1. Front Seals
2. Complete exhaust system on goldwing (change out new for old)
3. Possible clutch rebuild
4. Tire change
5. other odds and ends
So you can see we need some people with experience, please try and make this if possible. Anyone who can bring some tools please do so. I may have everything we need but not sure. I know i do not have the tire changing equipment.
Let me know if you plan on coming
Right now I have Charles O, Dave S, Ron C, Dan D, Scott M, Chris E, and myself.
Ok guys tell the wives that if they want to come but do not want to hang out and work on bikes, Vickie said she would take them to First Monday in Canton which is only about 15 miles away. See everyone on Saturday.
Here are the directions to my house:
From Dallas take I20 to exit 540 go North, second street to the right is Oklahoma turn East and I am the first house on the left, pull in the alley.
From Shreveport take I 20 to exit 540 go North, second street on the right is Oklahoma turn East and i am the first house on the left, pull in the alley.
Gosh I just wrote that lol
Ok for you GPS guys 139 Oklahoma St. Van, Texas
Rain or shine i have enough garage and carports to keep us dry.
Jim. I'm thinking about trying to make it. My VF750 is having electrical problems. The battery is less than a year old. The Reg/REc is just a couple of years old. I've cleaned the battery terminals, but haven't followed the wires down into the bike to see if they're clean on the other ends.
I can put a charger on the Battery and it will top off in 15 minutes or less. The bike will still drag when I try to start it. I wouldn't mind having somebody else takek a look before I start buying parts.
Anyone who wants to ride out with me Saturday morning, speak up.
We are growing in numbers come on
Charles O, Dave S, Ron C, Guy W, Scott M, Chris E, Ron C, Curtis H, new guy called from east texas has a 1st gen, and myself
Dave what time are you leaving and from where I plan on making it.

Whenever from DeSoto I guess. Still got my number? Call me to discuss.
I may be coming down to do a carb overhaul on my V-65. It depends on wheather someone there has done an R&R on a Gen I set of carbs. I'm hesitant to try it with no experience handy. I have all the rebuild parts already.
Looks like I can make this. Buddy if you can make it I'll help with the carbs.
With Jeff's help, I'll be doing the carbs on my V-65.
I will bring my forkseal tool for that fork job that is going on too. It makes things a LOT more comfortable.
I was planning on making this one, but they've decided I must work tomorrow. I will miss seeing everyone.
Curtis
I'd planned on coming, but bailed at the last minute. My Magna just needs a battery so I don't need to bring it, and I've got lots that I need to do around here.
Charles was going to ride with me, so I doubt he'll make it either. Ya'll have a good time, and don't get too hot. The weather folks in Shrevveport say 102° today.
Sorry guys I was really hoping I could make this one but my shoulder (torn rotator cuff) is giving me too much trouble to try that long of a trip. Y'all have a good day and like Guy said watch the heat.
Curtis, Guy and Charles sorry to hear that you are not going to make it. Was looking forward to visiting with you guys. Curtis have not seen you in a while MOOTMag 7 i guess. Missed you in Colorado last summer. Hope everyone has a great day. Hope you miss a good time here lol
Finishing things up here. Going to leave soon to go eat. Had 8 show up, pics coming.
QuoteMissed you in Colorado last summer.
Yeah Jim, we were all over Colorado together last year ............just not at the same time! LOL I'm itching for another trip like that, but it's not in the cards for this year. Hope to see you soon.
Curtis
Had a great time today. We had 6 moosters and 2 others show up. Buddy, Dave, Jerry, Chris, Jeff, and me, then a friend of mine Ron, and a friend of Jerry's Les. We did a carbs on Buddy's V65, Front seals and chain adjustment on Chris, Chain adjustment and brakestay rod on mine, and an exhaust replacement on Ron's Goldwing. It did get hot, but we still had a great time. Afterwards went to Maggies and had catfish, yum yum

Made it back home about 5:45 great to see everone enjoyed the day and the wrenching and the catfish at maggies was excellant looking forward to next one thanks hosting Jim and have fun with the new Valk.
Would liked to have made this one...at home working on several bikes and too many specialty tools and work to haul them over.
Looks like you guys took care of some maintenance and had fun doing it.
It was great meeting you guys , Jim thanks for holding this thing and having everything onhand for us. I noticed that Jeff, Dave, Jerry, and Greg all rode a long way only to help and assist others and as someone new to motorcycling I cant tell you how much that was appreciated. Looking forward to the next one.
It looks like you guys had a great time and I'm sorry I missed it. I'm even more sorry that I let Charles down. He'd planed on riding with me, and when I bailed on him Friday night, it left him in a bit of a bind. With his sore shoulder, he didn't need to drive himself, and he didn't have time to find somebody else to go with him. Having said that, I'm glad I stayed here for several reasons, some good, and one definitely not good.
The bad first. We've been painting the house, and my wife planed to spend the day scraping paint up on the balcony. She fell off a step ladder, coming down on it and gashing her head open. It took 5 staples to close it up. She's also got assorted scrapes and bruses over the rest of her body. I'm glad I was here to take her to the ER. She can be a little pig hea .... errr, strong willed, and probably would not have gone to the ER if she'd been here by herself.
The good reasons include finally selling my Victory, getting Maggie running, and getting the wiring harness on my son's savage.
I'll keep my eyes on the board for another session I can make.
Well, Guy, I hope she recovers without further trauma. Glad you were home to take care of her. Scraping paint, huh? Do you hire her out??
My wife might get hurt while I am away, but it would NOT be from scraping paint outside -- especially in this heat!!
Yes, a very nice experience as always. Thanks Jim for opening the house up for this one. I enjoy helping when i can. Sorry I had to miss lunch and the ride, but i am glad everyone's projects were completed.
