So not sure how it happened but my coolant reservoir has a small crack in the side and is now slowly but surely leaking. Any help would be appreciated helping me find a replacement. Thanks It is a 3rd Gen.
Check on e-bay, there are lots of bike de-assemblers out there.. OR do a Google search for used motorcycle parts. There are a number of sites that you list what you want and they send it out to hundreds of Bike Salvage yards.. IF the salvage yard has the part they e-mail you with the price. I've bought a couple of parts both ways.
I had the same problem with my coolant tank. When I bought my bike the guy told me it had a small crack in it. I put some silicone over the crack and it held pretty good for a couple of years. I found one on ebay for 5 bucks so I went ahead an changed it out. If you can't find one immediately try some silicone.
Thanks guys for the tips. I was able to find the part number and am going to go from there. Now here is my last question. What is the best route to get to the coolant reserve? Do I need to take out the battery and owners manual housing? In case anyone is wondering part number is 19101- MZ5-000
Sorry, I don't remember.. Check the Shop Manual, it might tell you.. I think I cleaned mine out while I replaced the Battery holder (The holder was busted when I bought the bike).. So to me the answer is yes, but only because that's the way I approached it and there may be another way..
I took out my battery but I'm not 100% sure I needed to. It's been awhile so I forget. Anyway there's a bolt that holds the tank to the battery box you'll need to take off. I think it's either an 8 or 10mm. Unplug the two hoses (siphon tube & radiator overflow tube) from the tank and it'll slip out through the bottom. Reverse to install the tank. It's really pretty simple to do.
I was unable to find a used reserve anywhere so I ended up ordering a new one. It was $20 so I don't feel too bad. Hopefully it gets here soon so I can throw my new tires on and go go go. Also to get the old one off I took off the side covers and seat and was able to get right to it.

Finally got this today and installed it. Happy that is over.
Should be easy to repair, rough up the area good and put a fiberglass patch on it, its hidden most of the time..
