Attention all Cycle-istiC Brakestay owners
If you have a Cycle-istiC Brakestay Rod assembly #BSR-2 which was purchased prior to June, 2010, please contact Cycle-istiC by phone or e-mail at one of the contacts listed below as soon as possible.
There are over 450 units currently in the field. This year there have been 2 failures of the 1/4-20 stainless cap screws which hold the 2 parts of the assembly together. This is a very dangerous situation, which can lead to a crash, causing extensive damage, serious injury, or worse.
According to available data, these cap screws should be able to withstand much more stress than hard braking by a vehicle of the Magna's weight can impart. Nevertheless, the fact is that 2 failures have occurred. One failure of a cap screw might be viewed as an isolated incident, or anomaly, but 2 failures causes us great concern. We have re-designed the rod assembly to be much stronger, and we will be getting these new stronger rods out to current users as quickly as we can produce them.
It may not be possible for us to locate all prior purchasers, as some may no longer own their Magna, or may have moved, etc. If you know of someone who has a BSR-2 Brakestay Rod, please inform them of this notice, and encourage them to contact us as soon as possible.
This is a very expensive proposition for us, as we will be supplying the units and shipping them at our expense, so it would be greatly appreciated if, upon receipt of the upgraded unit, owners would return the original rod. This way, we can at least recycle the aluminum to recoup a small percentage of the cost. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

I posted this up on another Motorcycle forum I frequent..
I put it on Delphi's MRF & MUFF, HondaV4BBS, V4Musclebike, and the old MRA Board.
Just called them and had them ship me a new one. I hope it gets here before Saturday so we can do it during the wrench session.
Thanks for the letting us know about this.

Actually, my original post should have been worded a little more clearly. If you bought your Brakestay from us directly, we have the record of sale and you do not need to notify us. We will send the replacement. If, however, you bought it from another source, such as Cruiser Customizing, or a local Powersports dealer, or if you bought your Magna with the Brakestay already on it, or if you received it as a prize at one of the various Magna rallies, we do need to be notified. Also, if you sold your Magna with our Brakestay on it, please give us the new owner's contact info, or have the new owner contact us.
Sorry for any confusion. Thank you.
I had already sent the email.
If on the outside chance you send me two I will send it back with the old one labeling the old and new one.
The fact that your going to so much trouble to correct the problem, say a lot for your integrity..
Charles I completely agree with you about their integrity! Dobie and Val are awesome people!!
They have always taken care of MOOT and Magna Owners in general!
Got my new brakestay rod yesterday and put it on this morning.
UPDATE
All the existing BSR-2 Brakestay rods have been modified with the larger, stronger cap screws and have been sent out. We have since re-designed the brakestay as a one-piece rod, designated BSR-3, having the same offset as the prior assembly. All further replacements will be made using the BSR-3

Thank you all for your patience and understanding during this trying period. - Dobie

Meant to post this a couple weeks ago but it slid through the cracks. Anyway I got the new brakestay installed and the old one shipped back. Thanks for your support on this Dobie, we appreciate it!
Not sure how to proceed now. We have sold over 400 units, over a period of 5 yrs or so, and only about half have been replaced. We simply can't contact many of the earlier customers. People have moved and mail forwarding time has expired, phone numbers are no longer good, bikes have been sold or traded in with no way to trace current owners, etc., etc. If you know of anyone who has one of our BSR-2 brakestay rods and has not had it replaced with a BSR-3, please have them contact us ASAP. I really don't want to leave that many on the road, but I don't know what else we can do to locate them all.
Speaking for myself for sure and most if not all on this forum.
If I run into another magna owner, even one thats not a member of our group, which i do from time to time, I will keep and eye out for the brake stay and let them know of the change.
This thread should probably be made sticky and remain at the top of the garage list with the regulator stuff.
Done Stuck !!! 8)
I believe Dev's red Magna still has one of the early units on it, which it now lives (again) in my garage under my name LoL...
Take a look, and if it does, I'll send you one for that bike. Also, do you have any records that would show who may have won a unit at any of the MOOTMAG's we sponsored? We want to replace any of those as well.
Val and I would like to thank everyone for your support and understanding throughout this whole ordeal, and wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. There's a note about our annual Christmas Sale under the "Vendors" heading.
I'm a new member here, and bought a used 95 honda magna 750. Could this brake stay be on my bike? If so, a picture the defective stay would be helpful to me.
If yours is aluminum it could be, if black and round tube steel, that would be stock.
Thanks Terry. Looks like I have a stock brake stay. :-D
