Title: Speedometer stopped working
Post by: ryjb on July 30, 2010, 04:53:37 PM
While I was headed to work halfway there my speedometer and miles counter stopped working.  The RPM's gauge is just fine.  I pulled out both ends of the cable and everything seems to be fine.  I cleaned it pretty good for the most part although still not turning.  Any ideas?  Thanks

Speedometer works off of the cable so either the cable is bad or the speedometer itself quit working.

One thing I did not do is try and pull the cable out all the way.  Upon further inspection I found that the cable was severed in two pieces.  Looks like the speedo cable sleeve got bent somehow.

If you go to eBay then pinwall-cycle-parts they have one for 8.95 plus shipping I have got several parts from them and they have the best prices for used parts.

I figured it had broken further up.  If the square drive ends are intact its usually further away.
