I joined this forum 1 1/2 years ago as a proud owner of a 84 VF700C with 42K on it. It had a slipping clutch, leaking forks, the slave cylinder went out, then the front brakes got wet with dripping brake fluid from the caliper. I bought an extra engine, and transmission, and clutch basket and rebuilt the entire front end all with your help. You would think that I would be pretty fed up with Magna by now. Not even close. This Sat Aug 28th 2010 I am trading even up my 96 Vulcan VN800B1 Classic with Cobra pipes for a 85 VF1100C V65. I can't wait to pick it up. I feel like a real mootster now with my street fighter and my alley cat. I have worked and studied so hard on my V40 that I have a bond with the Magna line that will never die. The only mistake that I might have made was I had two D404 mounted on the bike tonight down in Columbus Ohio. Was that a mistake? I live in Butler PA 30 miles north east of Pittsburgh and the bike is in Newark Ohio 30 miles north of Columbus. The bike only has 21K on it but the tires r 10 years old they were RWL Spitfires S11 hell they don't even make them anymore. We r going to meet in Canton OH at 10:00 AM for a swap and to do the title transfer. I did not want to ride home on those tires and I did not want him to either. Here is a link to the craigslist ad. Is this a mustang seat on this bike? Thanks for all that you guys have done and it looks like old Cadmandu is here to stay. Unless Greg kicks me off. I have a brother-in-law that lives in the Woodlands that makes me half a moot.

Congrats........you will love the v65.
If I increase the number of my bikes a V65 will be on the list. Congratulation I am sure you will love it.
Hi Robert,
Sorry about the reference to the V65 as a MOOT member bike only. I forget about the 2nd gen and 3rd riders. One of these days I might move out of the early eights and buy a 2nd gen. I like the 94 yellow one. I am 6' 3" and 225 lbs so I like the 30" seat height of the 1st Gen. Did I make a mistake buying Dunlops D404?
Any tires will be better than 10 year old tires!!!
That Could be a Mustang seat, but not a good enough picture to tell.
#1 on the list Verify that the fork brace has been replaced!! They are known for cracking and causing accidents (usually bad one's!)
Congrats on the bike!!! - There's a little envy in many of us, I'm sure..
Like the paint! S11 Spitfires are still made, I use these on my vintage bikes also, white letters I'm not sure about.
Bring it down here so I can give it a try! Never ridden a V65 and I desire to.

Thanks Dan, I would love nothing better than to be in the area, that would mean I would be on a trip! If you can make it down this way that would be great, come on down! If we have a wrench session on your bike you might not make it back! :P
Well I told Terry he could come to Pittsburgh and stay with us for a few days, but only if he changed his shirt. Every time I see him he has that same brown shirt on. Anyway, I have not ridden in a car since last Saturday. The weather has been 60 in morning and 90 in the afternoon. I have put 360 miles on my V65 since Saturday. I have a 30 mile one way to work so I get a nice 50 min ride twice a day and 100 mile coming back from Canton. I was told that if your compression is at least 10:1 or better you can burn premium without carbon build up, any comments would be appreciated. See you soon Terry. Riding in the Allegheny Mountians is a real joy. I have a 35 min ride down Rt 8 South but when I go my last 9 miles on Rt 910 East it is nothing but up and down some really steep hills and lots of counter steering.

No need, he hadn't built a chopper yet with his new company. I did tell Jr. if he need someone to paint one of his builds RED........ I know just the guy! :D
When the show between Sr and Jr on the build-off started I didn't want to post the spoiler photo or it would be obvious Vinny was back with Jr. building bikes. There is more spoiler info but for the ones following the series it might ruin it for you.
Hey Terry,
Where were you when those shots were taken? Who are the two fellows with you? And, I thought only Jersey had Vinni's. It looks like you guys have lots of fun in Texas. I will be going to Cincinnati to see my son over the the three day weekend. Maybe I can get on his laptop and see what is going on with this thread. Robert is trying to teach me how to upload big Texas size photos in my threads. I have a photo bucket account open and I am waiting for some further instruction. Something about putting some HTML code in front of the picture location. I put about 4 oz of Seafoam in my crankcase two days ago and dropped the oil when I got home from work, man was it black. The guy I got it from said he changed the oil last year. I change mine twice a year. I use Mobil 1 Syn and a K&N filter. When I put my new fork brace on last night, you know the one you buy on Ebay the 10 gauge SS CNC flat plate. Well anyway, after popping of the plastic chrome platted bolt covers I found one bolt loose, I mean moving loose, and the other three at 8 ft lbs they should be 18/22. The brace was in good shape, but boy what a difference it makes with the SS spacer and tight bolts. Thanks for the heads up on the brace, it probably saved me some skin.
