I recently purchased a 1999 Magna 750. The bike only had 7000 miles on it when I bought it for $1000. A dela I was not going to let go. After I got the bike home. I decided to give the bike a very detailed cleaning. I removed the right side cover and found a sticker. The sticker said that the bike I had just purchased was not VF750C. But in fact a VF750C2X. I've looked all over and can not find an answer to what the C2X stands for. Does anyone have any idea what it stands for?
Deluxe Model I believe. Is it two tone paint scheme? IF so then yep a deluxe model.
Thanks all for the welcome. I'm located in Sandwich,Mass on Cape Cod. This is my first bike and love it. My pass experience has been riding a 49cc scooter then I moved up to a 250CC motorcycle/scooter. The Magna I've known since it was new. As my neighbor owned it before me. He and his wife would only go for short rides in the summer. About 5 years ago he developed Arthritis in his hips. So he had to stop rideing it. So it sat in in garage for the past 5 years. One day he was bringing the bike out and getting ready to load it onto a trailer. I asked his what he was going to do with it. He said he was going to take it to a dealer and see what they would give for it. That's when I offered him $1000.00 for it and he took it. During the paper change he gave me the original sales and purchase paper work. Back in 1999 they paid $12,000 for it. So there has to be something special about the bike. Yes it does have 2 tone paint. It is orange over black in a scallop design. The bike came with soft saddle bags,windshield by Menphis Shades,front pouch,and sissy bar.(//)
I had to take the bike into a shop to have the carbs cleaned and synced. Because he had left the bike with the old MBTE gas in it. Then he added the Etanol gas to the tank. Which cleaned all the varnish off the inside and all the crud settled into the carbs Which clogged all the jets. Plus while it was there I had them give it a good going over looking for any problems. Which there was none. All my friends call it a church mouse because it is so quite. But they have learned the hard way not to mess with the church mouse because there is a lion hidden inside. When I can I ride my bike back and forth to work every day and love every moment of it. I've racked up close to 4000 miles in less then 3 months.
You got a great deal and and sounds like the seller sold the bike to a good person who will take care of it and get some good use out of it and where the owner will have a smile on his face every time he sees you on pulling out or back in from a nice ride.
These bikes new were around 7500 or so new, what he spent 12,000 on, hmmm...
When the bike was in the shop. They did remove the tank and gave it a flush. Then they used a small camera and looked inside to see if there was any pitting or rust. They said the tank was just as clean as the day it was made. I've put close to 4000 miles on the bike in the last 3 months. I rode the bike enough that when I had to use my truck. I had to charge the battery. Because it had died from sitting. It is going to be long hard winter. Looking out in the garage and seeing it sitting there. But when you look at the thermometer and it says it is only 20 degrees out. It's enough to change your mind about rideing.
Been thinking on changeing the seat arrangement to either a Mustang or a saddlemen. Something that will give my back a little more support. Due to haveing my back operated on in the past twice. But when it warms up. It will take a team of wild horses to keep me from riding my Magna.

If it is going to sit for an extended period, suggest you shut off the fuel and drain the carbs. There are drain plugs in the bowls of each one, or you can run it until it quits, although that is not as thorough. And when you fire it up in the spring, use some varnish solvent in the recommended amount. The folks on this forum are partial to Seafoam, but others will also work.
The low speed jets are prone to clog on these bikes. There is an article on the main page about cleaning them. While it is not terribly onerous, it is a lot more work than preventive draining.
One of the preps to get the bike ready for winter. I put 2 oz. of Marine Stybil in the fuel tank when I filled it up for the last time. Then I shut off the fuel flow and let it idle till it died on it's own. Then I cleaned and lubed the chain. Finally I removed the battery and brought it inside. Were it will stay warm. Nothing worst then haveing battery freeze and split. Allowing the acid to run free. I was concidering put Seafoam in the tank in the spring when I get it going again. I know the stuff did wonders for my truck. Seeing others have used it. How much should I put in the tank when time comes ?

I think the bike was imported, maybe from france. I found a page on a google search that listed a bike for sale in france with the same vf750c2x designation. also on a google search, i came across these other models which i'm sure are from across the pond, because i've never heard of them or anyone discussing them.
