Well yesturday it got up close to 60 degrees. So I fired up the bike and wen for an extended ride. All the sand traps are now on the side of the road except for on the side roads. Any way while I was riding I came a cross a nice straightstrip of road. So I decided to open it up. But when I did I had 3 very noticeable hesitations. I did 2 runs to make certain that there might be a problem. The first one was at 5000 rpm. The second was at 5500 rpm. But the third at 6000 rpm the bike took off and kept going even during every gear shift. The engine did not skip once. It's a weird feeling almost like the bike is sending me a warning that it is going to open up. Any ideas ?
How long did it sit during the winter and what kind of prep did you do before parking it? Sounds like it needs some Seafoam to me.

do you have a k&n air filter?Any carb work been done? have you added shims to the needles on the carbs yet?
I put the bike away in December. I changed the oil and filter and greased the chain. I filled the tank and put some Seafoam in. When I parked the bike I shut off the fuel and ran it until it died. But in the last days of January if the temp. got above 20 I would start it up and let it run until it got to hot enough to operate the cooling fan.
When I first got the bike. I had to have the carbs cleaned out and adjusted. I had to have a mechanic do the rebuild as it is much to invovled for me. Because the bike had sat for close to 5 years with out being started. The gas that was in the tank had turned to varnish. The tank was removed and cleaned out and then inspected useing a small camera. Which showed no pitting or rust. Other then that the bike runs perfect and my mileage is around 42 mpg. This problem only last the first time I get on it and does not do it after that.
run some more seafoam in the tank. sounds like the slow jets are partially clogged. it does not take long for them to start plugging up.
Thanks Chad I'll give it a try. It's suppose to be nasty weather for the rest of the week into the weekend. But I'll give it a try.
Don't be afraid to double dose (Use twice as much as stated on the can). I've done it many times with no ill effects.
I concur, slow speed jets, RIDE with double dose's of Seafoam...
OK I'll give it a double dose. Then I'll run it for a couple of minutes. Then the bike will sit in the garage for a couple of days. As we're suppose to get some nasty wet weather coming in. So I might not able to give it a run till next week. Hopefully with it sitting with the Seafoam in it will eate the crap out of the jets and clean them.I did forget to add that I do have a K&N air filter on the bike.
Well I gave the bike a run today. Even though it was cold out. The Seafoam is starting to work the hesitation out. It only hesitated twice on me today when I first gave it the throttle. Then it ran great. One the way home it did it on the intial thrust of the throttle. But after that all she wanted to do is go. So probably anouter tank full and a double dose will do it. Thanks guys.
