Title: Question about slow jet #42
Post by: MagnaMan84 on April 26, 2011, 06:14:33 PM
I bought a set of #42 slow jets from JetsRUs and I noticed tonight when I removed the original #40's that they are 28mm long compared to the ones from JetsRUs that are 23.5mm long.  Anyone had this issue?  Will it affect anything?  I guess I should have looked into this before I made the purchase

I purchased some 42 from jetsrus and they were shorter but they work just fine my bike runs great with them.

Great question.. I have some 42's that I have NOT installed yet... So, one question I won't have to ask when I get there.

I'm glad that I'm not alone here and that it doesn't appear to be an issue.  The only thing that I'm wondering is if there would be any negative effects in low rpm cornering where the fuel level in the float bowls would be low enough to not reach the low speed jet since the bike would be leaning to one side or the other.  I guess if all else fails I'll have to spend some more money and buy longer ones.  Right now I'm too impatient and want to get riding so I guess I'll head out to the garage and start installing.

The fuel is drawn out of the bowl because of the negative pressure area created above it from the venturi effect of the carb throat, this is what makes the legnth a non player.

Quick followup:  Decided to contact JetsRUs and notify them that their website has the wrong Keihin jets listed on their website for the Magna (N424-26 instead of N424-21).  They are gladly exchanging the ones they shipped me for the proper jets.  I highly recommend them when buying the slow jets for our bikes.  Their prices are almost half of what other folks want and they ship extremely quick.
