Title: Big Blue Spark
Post by: jccbone62 on May 03, 2011, 12:06:28 PM
Can someone explain and describe if there really is a Big Blue spark or just a typical spark.
I have a 84 magna v65 and I have never seen a Big Blue spark.  I also have a hard starting problem and was wondering if the Big Blue spark is real and this could be one of my reasons for hard starting.  I have a set of rebuilt carbs, new spark plugs, good resistance from the coils but no Big Blue spark.  Just a normal looking semi yellow spark.  Looking for an explanation of the Big Blue spark!  Thanks in advance.

IMO, its just a regular blue spark.  I have new Dyna coils and there spark is no different than my lawn mower.  I also have had some hard starting issues and again, IMO, its 99% of the time carb related.

I think the spark would be bigger, if we had one coil for each cyl.  these bikes use a waste spark system, in which one coil fires two spark plugs at the same time, so half the alotted energy has to make it across two plugs, not just one.
