Title: Need Magna Parts..
Post by: hootmon on May 29, 2011, 11:58:03 AM
Well, I had a little mishap with the Magna last night..

I'll ask, but I don't think anyone has has these parts...

I need the Clutch Perch preferable with the clutch handle AND mirror.. (this is the metal piece that the clutch cable and left mirror attaches)..

Looks like I also need a clutch cable..

I'm OK, a little bruised around the left collar bone and some scrapes on my left knee..

Funny thing is.. The Ford Explorer that cut in front of me (I hit her rear passenger side door) had this on her rear window...

Well, Hoot, her heart is in the right place, even if her brain was sleeping!

I have a used but quite serviceable clutch cable for 3rd gens that I will ship to you gratis -- just send me a PM.

Glad you are OK.

Glad your ok from your mishap Hoot. I got stopped by the police last night. He wanted to check out the new lights I put on the front of my bike. Said he's never seen anything so bright. But of course he is a friend of mine. Hoot if you need them. I have a set of front directional lights if yours got damaged.

I got stopped by police cruiser when I was 17 YO.. I was shaking in my boots.. He comes up and asks me about the 4 into 1 exhaust on the bike (which was stock). "Man that looks really nice, Stock eh?? I was looking for something like that for my bike.."

He drove off... IF I remember correctly the bike fell over as I fainted...

Thanx for the offer on the blinkers, but the only other things that got damaged was the left header pipe which has about a 5" raspberry on it .. I figured I wasn't going to do anything about it as it's pretty much in an unseen spot.. AND my Memphis Shades Windshield (and bracket) which will have to be replaced..

I was leaving a bike festival (no I was not drinking).. The car the pulled out in front of me was actually a chase car for some other bikers.. She was just trying to catch up with her group and didn't take the time to look to see if anyone was coming.. SO, since she is part of the biker community, I'm trying not to stick it to her really hard.. Thus the reason for the used parts IF I can find them..

Hoot, check with Memphis Shades regarding warranty.  You will have to buy the plastic shield, but the mounting brackets should be replaced for free.  I was shocked to discover this, after I bought a replacement set, of course.

Thanx for looking out for me.. That was my plan for Tuesday...

They don't make my mount anymore (Only the quick disconnect mount), so I don't know IF they still have spare parts or not..

I haven't decided whether I will charge the lady yet or not IF I get the replacement part.. It is an opportunity to upgrade to the quick disconnect mount, but I don't see the real advantage since you still have to loosen the screws and it takes me 1 minute to remove the non "quick connect" mounts..

Total on parts is about $300 (without the left header pipe)..
Like I said, I've already ordered everything but the windshield mount and the header pipe..

I even ordered the Vacuum shut off rebuild kit while I was ordering.. Mine has over 80K miles on it and feel it could fail pretty much anytime and leave me in a bad place out on the road..

No go with Memphis Shades..
They no longer make the mount I have, so no parts available from them..
I did find the Quick Release mount ($142.50 retail and $137.00 the least that I found) on e-bay.. Nobody bid (Stated for a Vulcan - but same part number), so I got the new mount for $89 bucks (pretty good deal!!!)
The mount is due in Thursday (Windshield came in yesterday)

I also got my other on Honda Parts today (most made in China!!).. New clutch perch, clutch handle and clutch cable..
MAN, my clutch is SOOOOOO easy to pull now, it's amazing!!!

I mounted the new after market mirrors (cheap, but look almost like stock)..

So, now I just have to wait for the QR mount and I'll be back to ALMOST pre-crash..
