I'm sitting here in my hotel room in Kilgore, TX. Yes! I've made it this far toward Katy. Talk about a ride. The wind was horrible today. I used about 7 gallons of gas more than planned. Trying to ride 85-100mph on the turnpike might be a factor there. I made it to I-40 after riding the Pig Trail. The ride was really nice, partly shaded and the best part were the first 20 miles with the "Moot guys "send-off" ride. Lawrence said they renamed my bike the rail so they could say they ran me out of town on a rail. On the ride they stopped so I turned around to say bye. In true MOOT form, the send-off party road with me till they realized it was time to eat. They turned around to go eat, I cruised on.(understandable). I finally stopped for lunch around Fort Smith and it was VERY HOT. I ended up drinking a large iced sweet tea, almost 2 litres of water, a coke and a large bottle of Gatorade just across Oklahoma. I notice from McAlester,OK to Texas I didnt pass one motorcycle. I'm guessing they melted!! I went through Mount Pleasant,TX were twice I had cars pull out in front of me to the extent of slamming on the brakes, flashing the lights and laying on the horn. I saw no motorcycle there either. I'm guessing they killed them all with bad cage driving. We did manage to stop and see the Worlds Largest TUNED winnd chime a couple miles out of Eureka Springs which was impressvive. Thanks to Allen for that one
My conditions set by the wife for "running away" for the week were that I had to me home by Father's Day. I left Katy around 6AM Monday and made my way to Arkansas. Although I had the greatest time by myself touring Arkansas by bike, it was really hard leaving today knowing that I would not be there for the rest of the MM9 gathering. I joined MOOT in June 2006. That means I missed MootMag 07, 08, 09, and 10. To quote Bugs Bunny.... "What a Maroon". What a great group of people!! Thanks Y'all!!! I hope to make it to MootMags in the future and stay for the duration.
Pics to follow!! Good night all!.
David,
So glad you finally got to make it out to a MootMag. Hope to see you there again next year.
Sounds like a tough ride home. Glad the crazy cagers didn't get you. I had one like that right when I left Houston.
David, sorry ya had to leave early. Very much enjoyed meeting you in person and riding with you in Eureka Springs.
I do hope you can make future events!
David, next time your in the valley give a shout, I have an extra Magna.
Might have to take you up on that one David. Some guys I work with and a few friends now own bikes in the area. Maybe we can teach them how to ride.
Hey, if you guys plan a get-together, be sure to invite me and Skyride -- it's not that far from Austin and San Antonio ---
There is a Make A Wish Foundation Poker Run this Saturday if anybody is in town and up for it let me know. The put my bike's picture on the poster. LOL
