Title: MootMag9 Memories
Post by: Jamtndll on June 20, 2011, 01:50:46 PM
I was sad to see MootMag 9 come to a close.  This was probably the best one I have attended.  The rides were remarkable, the conversation was incredible, the food was great, and knowing that some rode over 1000 miles one way to get here makes this an awesome event.  Some of my memories 1.  What about Nellies, was that not just an incredible place, plus she was so nice to let us hang out during the rain.  2.  Having 21 bikes, 29 people and Valky in attendance.  3.  Seeing biker only hotels, actually had signs that said no cars in parking lot.  4.  Pig trail, Little Dragons, iron bridges, suspension bridges, and Grand Canyons to say the least of what we saw on the rides.  5.  Cash only resteraunts (this one is for the Queen).  6.  Thanks to all of you who helped me with my engine problems.  7.  Switching from glove to bandage for broken finger. 8.  The stories and conversations at night.  9.  1276 miles total for me. and 10.  The chance to be with the best group of people on this here Earth.

IT was great to meet many of you.. Some people didn't show up, I won't name names, (but one is spelled T-E-R-R-Y)..
Somehow I think the whole MootMag would have been different if Some One had showed up..

It was a great ride.. I hope Troy made it back OK.. I didn't see a post from him, but could have missed it..

Right after I left at 4am about 15 miles out, I had just rounded a corner and all of a sudden the forest behind me started flashing blue..
Then around the bend I had just passed I saw in my mirror a flashing blue bar :o .. Oh, Oh... I slowed and started moving to my right, and as the SUV approached, he sped right past me.. Whewww.. That will wake you up for a while!!

I had a great time, thanks for putting up with me..

I have to confess, that Terry did ask if I was coming.. I didn't say yes or no in my response, but made it sound doubtful..
SO Terry.. Are you saying IF I had said yes, you would have gone to MootMag???

MOOT MAG nine is in the books, all the bugs are cleaned off the motor, most of the camping stuff is back where it belongs, and now it's time to put out some ride reports on our activity.
Here's one about a short ride that Dave led for us:
We formed up for the short trip to the swinging bridge and to Lake Leatherwood.
Following Dave was, Lowell, Jesse, Brad then Karen and me two up on our Valk, The Dark Lady.
Just getting through Eureka Springs provides a lot of things to look at. (http://i607.photobucket.com/albums/tt160/BUDMANGEEZER/ForumPhotos/MootMag2011081.jpg)
Most of them I didn't see until reviewing the photos Karen took from the copilot's saddle.(http://i607.photobucket.com/albums/tt160/BUDMANGEEZER/ForumPhotos/MootMag2011085.jpg)(http://i607.photobucket.com/albums/tt160/BUDMANGEEZER/ForumPhotos/MootMag2011084.jpg)
The traffic and pedestrians wandering across the streets meant it was definitely NOT the time for sightseeing by the PIC (Pilot in Command).
(http://i607.photobucket.com/albums/tt160/BUDMANGEEZER/ForumPhotos/MootMag2011086.jpg)Just after crossing the bridge we found a couple there admiring the view and they were gracious enough to take a photo of our happy little band.  I thought they took one using our camera, but apparently not.  If anyone has the picture taken of all of us in front of the bridge, please post it or send it to me and I will cut it in here. (T'anks!)
After a few more photo ops;(http://i607.photobucket.com/albums/tt160/BUDMANGEEZER/ForumPhotos/MootMag2011050.jpg) (http://i607.photobucket.com/albums/tt160/BUDMANGEEZER/ForumPhotos/MootMag2011044.jpg) (http://i607.photobucket.com/albums/tt160/BUDMANGEEZER/ForumPhotos/MootMag2011054.jpg)(http://i607.photobucket.com/albums/tt160/BUDMANGEEZER/ForumPhotos/MootMag2011064.jpg)(http://i607.photobucket.com/albums/tt160/BUDMANGEEZER/ForumPhotos/MootMag2011066.jpg)it was off to a trip across the lake.  We planned to take some world class photos of the lake and dam from a lookout that Dave was leading us to, but it was closed.  Guess we'll just have to go back and try again next summer!(http://i607.photobucket.com/albums/tt160/BUDMANGEEZER/ForumPhotos/MootMag2011059.jpg)
The winding road we took back from this trip had a little more challenge to its surface than expected.  There were tar patches in all the cracks in the pavement that could make a Valk feel like it had a low tire.  Both Dave and I noticed it and decided it had to be the road but we were still glad to confirm proper pressures before blasting off again.(http://i607.photobucket.com/albums/tt160/BUDMANGEEZER/ForumPhotos/MootMag2011068.jpg)
Even with the missed photo op and the squirrely road down the mountain, it was a great ride. Thanks Dave!
(Next report: "The Missouri Loop")

Great pics Buddy!!  In 2008 when we here in Arkansas had our record flood, they opened the gates on the dam wide open and I got to see them.  Then I rode down to Beaver and seen the "lil golden gate" completely gone!   They had to rebuild it back.

I will not leave early next time.  I had a hard time coming down from the ride and returning to my current everyday life with current job stress.  This pic has been my pc wallpaper since that week.  It's been a great source of distraction and daydreaming as I wish I was on that road below.

The photo you are looking for is on Photo Bucket in my group of pics.

Great shots on our ride route. I'd like to take some like that, but I can't shoot over my shoulder and drive at the same time.

Those "tar snakes" were a beast indeed. It felt like the wheels were coming off. It took me a while to get my head back on straight for riding.
